When Jak got to the top of the cliff, Dax was buzzing with excitement.
"You know," he started as Jak went to collect more orbs on top of the pillars, " I don't think that this island is very big! That means were almost done here! Soon we get to go and get me changed back to my old self! Then Keira cant continue to make excuses to not to date me anymore. Ill be a lady killer once again!" Dax glanced down at his short orange legs and sighed, "Then I will finally be able to have pants again!"
Jak rolled his eyes and tried his hardest to ignore what he said about Keira. Its not like it was Dax's fault that he didn't know that he liked Keira too. Jak cant tell him. Well, even if Jak could voice the words, he's not sure that he would even be able to tell him. He trusted Dax more than anyone, even if sometimes he is a jerk. But he's not sure he could tell anyone about his crush.
Keira is so beautiful, he thought to himself, sighing as he though about her gorgeous eyes. He shook his head as he blushed. There was no way she would like someone like me, he thought darkly. he was an orphaned mute. Maybe one day, but probably not anytime soon.
Jak sighed and looked down at the ground, still ignoring Dax as he was going on and on about his lady skills.
Jak looked around him, trying to get his mind off of Keira, when he spotted the bridge that was over the little river connecting to another ledge. But over on that other ledge were specks of green that floated up and down just above the ground.
Jak proceed forward, leaving Dax to catch up. Dax scurried up onto Jak's shoulder and then noticed the green specks. I wonder what they are", he asked. Jak shook his head, trying to remember why they seemed so familiar when, once again, Samos's voice came from the communicator. The sudden extra voice startled Daxter and made him fall backwards off of Jak's shoulder and landed with an oomph on the hard ground, inches away from the ledge.
"Those little green balls of energy on the ground are a type of eco." Samos started as Dax brushed himself off, muttering something about stupid gravity and crabby old green men. "Pick up 50 small green Ecos, or one big green one to improve your health." Samos's voiced finished.
Dax stood besides Jak with his hands on his hips studying the little orbs. "Sooo..." Dax started as he advanced towards the green eco. "those tiny things are what old grandpa green studies about all the time? What he is supposedly the master, Mr-know-it-all, about?"
Jak shook his head wondering how he couldn't even remember what green eco was when Samos was the master of it. there were only hundreds of books based on centuries worth of research on them. Samos had dedicated his entire life overseeing everything that has to do with the green eco. It is said that even just one little green speck could heal any cut on the body, but the more serious injuries required more, which is why it is almost always needed that collect 50 or more.
Dax moved closer to the green orbs as he continued with his mocking. "These tiny things are what he wasted his life away studying? how stupid of him!" Dax started laughing like he just told the funniest joke in the entire world.
As if it heard all of what Dax was saying about Samos, the communicator flew out of the pouch and flew straight into Daxter, sending him flying into the green eco.
"What the hell!" Dax shouted, swinging around to face the communicator. "Bad enough you gave me one hell of a headache before, now its-" He paused then screeched loudly that made Jak cover his ears. "My headache is gone!" he grinned at the communicator," I guess this stuff isn't as useless as I thought"
If the communicator had eyes it would've rolled them before it disappeared once again. Jak moved towards one of the Ecos. before he could reach out and touch it, the green eco glowed brighter and strains of it began to flow into Jak's hand. Warmth began to spread through out Jak's body, healing any and all cuts that he had collected on their little journey to misty island dealing with the Lurkers.
Jak smiled at Daxter and flexed his newly healed fingers, trying to see if the eco missed even one little scratch.
" That's great!" Dax said to Jak as he started to make his way back to his side. "You'll need to stay healthy Jak because you'll be doing all of the fighting. If you die I wouldn't be able to get changed back, so make sure you keep up on your stash of eco!"
Jak rolled his eyes yet again at what Dax was saying. he was always saying annoying obnoxious things. but at the end of the day, Jak's eyes usually end up hurting from how much eye rolling he does.
Jak continued to make his way across another bridge as Dax scurried to keep up with him. Ahead of him there was another Spike pit and more pillars. Dax climbed onto Jak's shoulder and whistled at how high the pillars reached.
I guess its a good thing that I got changed into this furry orange thing, because you would have to carry me up those things even if I was my normal self!" Dax paused to think as Jak started jumping from pillar to pillar. "then again if it was for you, we wouldn't have to make this journey if I was may normal self anyways"
He's so damn lazy, the voices in Jak's head whispered in Jak's head. Jak caught himself before he could laugh out loud. Dax doesn't need to think that he crazier than he already thought he was. even though Jak himself was starting to think that he was losing his mind.
Jak spotted the last Powercell on the ground in front of him when he reached the top of the cliff. Dax let out and yelp of joy and bolted forward to grab it. But before he could reach it, it flew itself straight towards Jak.
"Hey!" Dax shouted, stomping his little orange foot on the ground and crossing his arms in annoyance. "How rude! I wanted it!" Dax sulked as he made his was towards Jak.
Jak's pouched lit up as the Powercell was collected saying area completed. Jak smiled to himself as he made his way towards a precursor platform. We finally have everything that we needed from geyser rock. We can finally head home.
Jak jumped off the platform and made his way back towards the warp gate, excited to get off the island and back home.
