Jak and Daxter made their way away from the swarm of Lurkers, carefully and quietly so they didn’t get noticed by any of them. They made their way back over the ferry, and Jak got to thinking.

What all those Lurkers were doing there, he thought. Who were the floating people... and what did they want with all of the villagers...? They were good people, and they wouldn’t hurt anyone or anything.

Daxter started to scramble his way down the large rocks that led the way to the fisherman’s boat, when Jak noticed that there was another large door. He spotted it through the large pillars of bone that tried to mask the way.

"J-Jak!" Daxter yelled when he spotted Jak making his way towards the tall islands that towered up in the foggy mist. Daxter scrambled to keep up with him, and tried to keep from wetting himself also.

Daxter glanced down that the dark grey mist, swirling around at the bottom of the pillars. He gulped. "Who the hell knows what is down there anyways?" A faint growl echoed up from the shadows, and a large fin could be faintly seen.

Daxter screeched and ran as quickly as he could to catch up with his friend, who was quickly leaving him in the dust.

Jak reached the large door and pressed himself to the side of it, shushing Dax as he finally caught up, panting heavily. Peering around the corner, Jak let out a silent sigh of relief when he noticed that nothing was waiting for them inside.

Jak stepped inside, carefully looking around.  Everything was made up of the same tarnished metal. It was a large circle that had walls that stretched towards the sky, making it hard for anyone to be able to scale the walls to get inside. Markings etched the entire thing. Circular markings, added to it with dots and swirls. Jak wasn’t sure, but he assumed that this was made a long time ago. Maybe it was a type of language, but he didn’t have any clue on how to figure it out...

There were floating objects on the side of the structure that led to a higher up area, making the floating items to be used like a set of stairs, Precursor stairs apparently, because they were made up of the same material as everything else.

"What are we doing here anyway Jak?" Daxter said, following close behind Jak as the ascended up the stairs. He did a quick look behind him, then quickly back at Jak. "This place gives me the creeps!"

Jak shook his head but continued onwards. He noticed a large indent in the middle of the floor. Light blue and purple speckles floated up and out of it, flying around one right after another like a game of tag. Beautiful, Jak thought and walked closer towards it.

There was a loud OOF behind him and he turned to look. He chuckled and shook his head, putting a hand to his face when he noticed Dax lying on the ground, face down.

Dax heard him laughing and quickly looked up to glare at him, then behind him to see what he tripped over. "Huh?" Dax said as he noticed the object. He got on his hands and knees and crawled towards the object.

"Ah, stupid precursor junk!" He said as he studied it. It was a long item that was, once again, made out of precursor metal. There were more black writings on it, just like the ones that were printed on the doors. Dax picked up the item and stood up, turning around to see Jak looking down into the hole.

Inside there was a dark purpley blue color. That’s where all the dots were coming from, Jak thought.

"Eek!" Daxter said. "What is that dark ooze? It sure dont look friendly!"

Jak rolled his eyes and glanced at Dax, then noticed that he was holding the object that he tripped over. Dax took a big breath and blew the dust off the top of the artifact and rubbed it with his quickly with his hand polishing it.

"The sage yaps on about the precursors that built this place all the time." He continued on in a mocking voice trying to mimic the Sage. "'Where did they go? Why did they build this crap?"

Jak put his hand on his hip and rolled his eyes, but quickly lashed out and grabbed the artifact that Daxter tossed into the air at him, over his shoulder.

The artifact quickly lit up a bright red as soon as Jak laid his fingers on it. He jumped back, startled but the sudden warmth that rushed through his hands into his body. He quickly looked up at Daxter, to show him what happened, but he was still muttering to himself.

"Now I like precursor orbs and power cells as much as the next guy, but if you ask me, they must’ve been real losers." Dax turned around and noticed the object was all lit up. "Whoa!" He said, rushing back towards Jak. "How did you do that?"

Jak shook his head in bewilderment, staring down at the object in his hands, when there was a loud thump behind him. He quickly whirled around and noticed a large Bone Lurker right behind him.

Dax cowered behind Jak, trying to hide from the monster so he wouldn’t get attacked. "Jak, i think we’re in trouble!" He shouted making Jak wince since it was right in his ear. Dax pointed to the lurker as he swung the large club, carved out of bone, above his head.

Jak looked down at the object in his hands and charged towards the Lurker as it let out a loud roar. He lifted the object high in the air, and with all of his might, threw it at the lurker.

There was a loud explosion and a purple flash that lit everything up. The lurker dissolved into a thin mist of purple powered, that floated to the ground.

The blast was so powerful it threw Jak back into Daxter, knocking him off balance.

"HELP!" Dax screamed as he was hurled over the edge, down into the purple pool.

Jak rushed forward, but he couldn’t get there quick enough to save Daxter from falling into it. He looked and looked to see if there was any sign of him, when there was a blur of orange that was shot out of the pool, right over Jak's head.

The ball of fuzz landed a few feet in front of him, and he inched closer to see what it was when it lifted itself up and began to yell.

"Man that stung!" It marched its way over to Jak, continuing to yell. "I told you we shouldn’t have come here, and you listened!" That’s when he noticed that Jak was just staring at him, wide eyed and mouth dropped open. "What?" He asked, flinging his hands out in front of him... His small, fuzzy orange hands that were covered by the leather gloves that he wore before.... only before they were much, much bigger.

Dax flung himself to the ground, screaming and banging his fists on the hard metal ground, flailing his legs all around freaking out. Jak covered his ears, trying to block out the high pitched noise.

"Okay, okay." Daxter said, picking himself off from the ground, dusting himself off. "I’m fine... I’m fine." Dax looked down at himself, covered in orange fur that stood maybe a foot tall. Ottsel feet is what he seen when he looked down, and behind him, a long, fuzzy orange tail trailed behind him, flickering every now and then.

He lunged at Jak, gripping his shirt and started to shake him as he started screaming his head off again, causing it to echo throughout Misty Island.
