“Hey Liz,” A smooth, worried voice hums in such a way; it makes my heart melt.
“Liam,” I breathe out in relief. He was here! He came for the girls and I!
“You look terrible, Love,” Liam chuckles as he brushes damp, string strands of fiery orange behind my ear.
“I know,” I sigh. I take a quick glance around the bright room. Where are the girls?
“Hey Lee?” I begin. “Where are the girls? Are they ok?”
I watch Liam’s soft smile fade and he looked confused.
“What do you mean Lizzy?”
“Jordyn, Pear, Elle, Carlie, you know the girls,” I say slowly, panic swelling in my chest. It felt like a bubble about to burst.
His brown eyes sent me looks of pity before he began to gaze down at the floor.
“Don’t you remember? You guys were in a car crash, you were- I mean are- the only survivor.”
I feel my eyes widen as the bubble inside my chest bursts.
“No, no, no, no, no, no. You’re lying. You’re lying!” I scream.
“Lizzy, calm down! Please, I don’t want to call anyone.” Liam pleads, but I shake my head repeatedly and try to pull my arms around myself.
To my surprise, my arms were bound- my entire torso is strapped in a white jacket. I glance around the room once more and realize that the walls are white and padded. Against my will, loud, heart-wrenching screams rip out of my throat along with many questions.
“Why am I in here? When can I leave? Liam, take me out of this!”
As my screams continue Liam’s expression changes to a murderous one.
He angrily barks, “Elizabeth, shut up!”
Though my throat feels as if I swallowed razors dipped in fire, my screams get louder, no matter how hard I tried to close my mouth. Liam’s now cold eyes hold some unleashed fury in them as he steps forward menacingly.
“Shut up!”
Once Liam saw that my screams weren’t going to cease; he wound his right hand back and slapped me.
~
“I said wake up!” My eyes were watering by the time I opened them, the stinging pain still rests on the cheek Liam hit.
But instead of Liam, it was Snake glowering at me with his hand poised to strike again. I let out a relieved sigh; it was all a dream. I wasn’t in an asylum.
“Liz,” Jordyn whimpers sympathetically.
I send her a weak smile, “It’s better to leave some dreams,”
“What?” Carlie croaks.
“Nothing,” I mumble while shaking my head. I didn’t want Snake to hear about my horrid nightmare, it might give him some ideas.
“I have something to show you,” Snake booms. I look up at him immediately. I heard some shuffling and finally a loud click interrupted the silence. An extremely bright white light shone in my face. While my eyes were adjusting from the change in light, Snake laughed, “Looks like we didn’t need you three to speak up after all.”
I squint at the screen. A large picture of Louis and Elle and Perrie and Zayn rested in front of me. The caption, “Two girls found, Three to go” was the biggest of all.
Though it was probably the stupidest thing to do at the time, I sighed happily, “They’re safe!”
“So?” Snake challenges. “You think they’ll remember how to get back here? You think they know where you three are?”
My happiness was drained from me; I finally understand how Harry Potter felt when the dementors were around.
Snake had a point. He took my submissive silence as an agreement and shut the laptop quickly.
“I’ll see you three in a while.” He claims as he disappears.
“I wish I was Perrie or Elle right now,” Carlie groans. Jordyn stays silent and I worry that the optimistic attitude she’s had for this whole dilemma may be gone.
And we’re nothing without hope.
A/N:
I’m so sorry for the long wait! I really am! It’s just that I’m on my school’s Winter Guard (and now color guard) teams and it’s been keeping me so preoccupied that I haven’t had time to write! I hope you enjoy this chapter; please comment what you thought about it. I’ll be updating again soon!
