I knew this feeling too well. My lower back was aching and I was my irritable than usual. The urge to cry was intensified by my hormones as I dully noted, “It’s been a month.”
“What do you mean a month?” Jordyn crowed from her spot pacing by the door. It shocked me slightly about how quickly she decided to speak to me again, but we were the ones “keeping Larry Stylinson apart”. We grew close from all the hateful remarks.
“We’ve been held captive for over a month,” I repeat and Carlie seemed to be interested in my words.
“How do you know?” She muttered. Over the past few days, Carlie began to get clammy and pale. Her voice kept giving out on her so she could only speak in a whisper.
I let my gaze drop to the ground as I breathe out, “I’m on my period.”
“You may have started early,” Perrie growled.
“I know my body better than you know your boyfriend!” I snarl at her. With a sigh, I rake my hand through my hair, “Since I was 17, I’ve never been late or early.”
“When was the last time you had your period?” Elizabeth hummed.
“October 7th.”
“There’s no way we’re in November!” Carlie gruff voice announced.
Perrie pondered on the idea for a moment before dejectedly saying, “No. That could explain why it’s getting colder,”
My gaze drops to the ground and for once I felt ashamed of being a girl. Sure, Louis made me insecure; I could barely face the mirror in the mornings after seeing that email. Funny how that seems like ages ago.
“Do you guys recall what you and the boys fought about?” I ask to no one in particular. I was met with silence until Perrie coughed.
“Zayn and I didn’t fight,”
“He didn’t want me to move in with him for all the right reasons,” Jordyn added after Perrie’s statement. “God, I was so stupid. What if I never see Harry again?”
“That’s not too bad,” Carlie muttered. “The last words I said to Niall in person were ‘fuck off’. Yet, I barely remember what we were fighting about.”
“Liam left me at his place for some girl,” Elizabeth added. I try remembering the key points of my fight with Lou and I glance down at my hand. Sure enough, some scars decorated my palms from where the glass was.
I trace the scars on my right palm absentmindedly and realize that I’m not perfect. Louis isn’t either so of course I could’ve expected him to do something stupid. He’s Louis fucking Tomlinson. He’s the man I love; the man I’m willing to die for! That gives me my answer.
“Elle, someone’s coming to the door. Ask if they’ll help you out with your… um, problem,” Elizabeth sheepishly claims. Out of all of us, Liz gets all flustered talking about sex and menstruation.
Sure enough, the door opens and a boy who looks about 15 drops a plate of food on the ground nervously.
“Excuse me!” I call, making the poor boy freeze and begin to quiver. “I’m sorry,”
“I can’t talk to you guys,” He breathes out, the terror showing on his face. I don’t think he was scared of us; just scared of what Snake would do to him.
“That’s fine! Just listen! I need you to do me a favor to save everyone from a bloody, disgusting mess,” I say as quickly as I can. “Tell the men up there that we are still women and we still get our periods. Just ask them to give us pads!”
The boy refuses to meet my eyes, but his cheeks flush and he nods determinedly. With that, he leaves and locks the door behind him.
“Do you think he’ll actually do it?” Perrie asked.
I nod, “I think he will.” I don’t know why, but I had faith in that lanky teenage boy. I have a feeling that he will do us that one simple favor and for some reason, that meant the world to me. It meant that there are still some good people on the inside and maybe, just maybe they could help us.
You have to hope for something, right?
A/N: Here’s chapter 12! I really hope you like this chapter; I tried to make Elle’s realization about Louis meaningful; did I succeed? I’m writing chapter 13 now, and you guys are going to be shocked!!!!
