∞ JANE ∞

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I cried softly, tears streaming down my face as my sister bites down her lip, forcing herself not to break down.

“I’m sorry Jane.” She whispers, hugging my hand as I break down into more sobs.

Glob lambbit!

I wake up sweating.

That wasn’t a dream.

I was beside Jade in this expensive private hospital.

She’s been here for a week now, awake and all.

Her Winter break was coming to an end too and we still don’t know what to do with that.

I found out that she had a heart cancer—OF COURSE I FREAKED OUT! — and that they needed to do more tests on her and stuff.

“Are you okay Jane?” Jade asks faintly looking down at me.

“Oh yeah. I'm good twin, you hungry?” I asked her rubbing my eyes and leaning back on the cushioned chair.

Ow. Me back hurts.

“Nope. Not yet. You?”

“I think I’ll just take these grapes.” I reply leaning over to the bedside table where the fruit bowl sat. I took the bowl to my lap and picked on the big juicy grapes.

“Ooh! Give me some!” Jade says giving me her palm which just meant ‘put the food on my hand bichacho’  and so I did.

We started talking about the older times and then suddenly...

“Do you remember that time when we were 15? You know, when  I came home crying about that guy??” She asked and I had to tap my chin before answering.

“uh, yeah! I do remember! What about that?” I lean on my arms that were flat against the hospital bed edge.

“do you remember what I asked you at the end of the conversation?” She asked me in a almost serious tone.

“Hey Jane.” She calls me and I glance at her.

“What is it Jade?” I reply turning over to her.

“Just promise me one thing.” She pleads and I already feel like she's going to ask for something. Duh.

“Suure, anything for you twinsy.” I roll my eyes smiling at my sister.

“When I die, you have to become me and take over my life and just be me, okay?” She asks standing up once again before opening the door, but she stands there waiting for my answer.

“Yeah, I do remember everything you said.” I reply getting curios about where this conversation was heading.

“Well, this is  the right time to apply that.” She said and I drew my eyebrows in, in confusion.

“What are you talking about Jade?” I ask sitting up to search for any kind of emotion but found blank.

“I’m not gonna come out of this hospital any time soon. At least, within this month. So I need you to take over for awhile if that's okay?” She explains, looking right into me.

“Wh-what?! B-but Jade, I-I-I'm not ready yet!” I scream softly my hands flying everywhere in exasperation.

“Please Jane! Please this is good for us!” She explains even more, my head is wheeling around as my heart beats harder.
