Life as Jade Day: 04

Okay, so it is the official day that I am Jade. Like seriously official.

As of promise, Nia chose my outfit for today.

I shakily ran my fingers through my hair, adjusted shoulder bag I was holding as I waited for Nia to get dressed. I stared at the body length mirror that was on my closet door. Turns out, the doors to my closet was a mirrored one. This crept me out last night since I kept mistaking myself for someone else.

I shuddered at the memory but smiled at the end, thinking about how stupid I must've looked for being afraid of my own reflection.

*knock! Knock!*

“Who is it?” I question, looking at my door, while waiting for an answer.

“Guess who?” I heard a familiar British accent sing-songed. I walk over to my door, opening it to see the familiar grin of Kiefer, who was leaning on the opposite wall with his hands in his pockets. The familiar little quiff of his brown hair, I looked at him in the eye and smiled. His eyes sparkled in the dim light of the hallway.

“Oh, hey Kief.” I breathed looking at him. We stayed like that for awhile, looking at each other when he broke the short silence.

“Oi! Stop staring at me! I know I look handsome!” he addressed cockily and I rolled my eyes at him.

I gotta admit though, he's pretty hot for a good guy.

Or at least I think he is.

“Keep flattering yourself Kief.” I snorted, looking at him in disbelief. Over time I've gained confidence over him.

He's just way too full of himself sometimes.

“Yeah, keep flattering yourself!” Nia chimed in at the end of the hallway with a little smirk on her lips.

“Yeah yeah! I will! Let’s just go now, yeah? I don’t wanna be late for my first class after winter break!” Kief cracked a smile, signalling us to follow him and we did.

We walked out of the condo, Nia locking it behind her and we walk down the carpeted corridor towards the elevator.

“Are you ready Jade?” Nia asks me quietly, before I could utter a word Kiefer interrupts.

“Why wouldn’t she be ready? It's not the first day or anything, right?” He chuckled and I shrugged.

“Whatever! It's not like I was talking to you anyway!” Nia sassed him and he shakes his head.

I just smile at how sibling-y they looked.

“Are you sure you guys aren’t siblings?” I jokingly asked. They immediately snapped their head towards me and I suddenly felt smaller. I think they took it seriously.

“Really Jade? Her? My sister? Pfft! She can't be my sister if she looks like that.” Kief huffed, glaring towards Nia who had her chin up high, arms crossed over her chest like a little girl.

“And as if he could be my brother! He’s too full of himself! Thinking blah blah! Saying blah blah! Ugh! And FYI Kief’, you're just jealous you can't look as good as this.”  She gestured over towards her body with a smirk.

“You both are full of yourselves.” I muttered. They both shrugged before we walked out of the elevator.

“I guess so, but we’re just cousins. Her mom is the sister of my mom.” Kiefer stated with a smile and Nia smilled as well.
