It's been a couple of weeks since that man showed up at the apartment, claiming he was Anna's father. I agreed to do the DNA test, but we couldn't get an appointment until the end of the month. I also told him that even if he is Anna's real dad, that doesn't mean he getting her back. To be honest, I'm scared. I don't want to lose her, I can't lose her. She's the only person who's made me feel happy until now. If I lose her, I'll feel empty inside.

"Michael," Abigail said, snapping me out of my thoughts. Right now I was at her house so Anna and her nephew could have a play date. "Michael, are you okay?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," I replied, taking a drink of the water that was next to me. "No, no I'm not. I still can't get that day out of my head."

Abby said and put her hand on my shoulder, "I know this is hard, but will get through this together. Anna will be yours"

I smiled and looked at her hand, "I hope you're right."

"Excuse me, Michael." I turned around and saw Abby's dad standing behind me, his arms crossed over his chest and a displeased look on his face. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

"Y-yeah, sure." I got up from my seat and followed him out to the garage. "Is there a problem, sir?"

He leaned on a bench and looked at me with a stern, serious look. "I'm just going to be straight forward and say this. I don't like you."

His comment took me back by surprise, "I-I'm sorry sir?"

"I don't like you. I don't think you're right for my daughter."

"And why do you think that sir?"

"You just seem like the type who uses girls. You have a daughter, your only twenty, who knows what you will do to my daughter. I don't want you seeing her anymore."

My eyes widened as I tired to process what he was saying. "Wait, are you trying to say you're afraid of me getting your daughter pregnant?" He nodded. I scoffed, "Unbelievable. I can't believe you think I'm like that. I don't know what Abby's last boyfriend was like, but I can assure you I am nothing like that. Also I didn't get a girl pregnant, I adopted Anna. And I know you care about your daughter, believe me I now what that's like, but I will not leave her. I love Abby and I will never do anything to hurt or upset your daughter."

We just stood there for a few minutes, staring at each other. I was getting pretty uncomfortable, but I wasn't going to back down. I needed to prove that I was worthy of being his daughter's boyfriend. Then the unthinkable happened. He started laughing.

It was more of a chuckle then a laugh, but it sounded pretty much the same. It was deep and very intimidating. I looked around the room, confused on what was going on.

Finally he spoke. "I wasn't sure about you at first, but now I know Abigail was right. You make her happy, you love her, your honest with her, and you won't hurt her. I see that now." He walked up to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Your different from her last boyfriend, I like you. Welcome to the family."

He walked off and left me in the garage alone. I was really confused, but mostly I was relieved. I was honestly surprised I was able to do something like that considering he was really intimidating and I'm usually very quiet and keep to myself.

I turned around to leave the garage when I spotted Abigail standing in the doorway with the biggest grin on her face. She ran up to me and wrapped her arms around my neck. My eyes widened but I quickly hugged back. I pulled away and looked at her with a grin on my face, "I don't know what just happened, but I'm guessing its good."

She nodded, smiling back at me she said, "You just got my dad's blessing. He likes you, which means he won't interfere in our relationship."

She pecked my lips before pulling back and smiling, but I could see a hint of sadness in her eyes. "What's wrong?" I asked, worry in my voice.

"He called. He said he had to leave in a week and he managed to get an earlier appointment."

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow," she said.

"What?" I asked. I rubbed my temples and leaned against a nearby table, "I haven't even told Anna yet. What am I suppose to do now?"

"I guess the only thing we can do is tell her," Abby said, grabbing my hand.

"I guess you're right," I said. I kicked up her hand and kissed her fingers. "Let's go tell her."

As Austin and I played, my daddy and Abby came back from wherever they were. "Anna sweetie, can we talk to you in the kitchen?" Abby said. I nodded and told Austin I would be back soon. I followed them into the kitchen and saw Abby's mommy cooking something.

"Mom, can we have some privacy?" Abby asked her mommy. She nodded and left the room after taking off her apron. I sat in a nearby chair and my daddy crouched in front of me and Abby sat next to me.

"Anna, we need to tell you something," my daddy said. "Your dad wants to see you."

I tilted my head and gave him a weird look. "Daddy, I'm right here."

I could tell what I said made him emotional because I saw him place his head in his hands and when he lifted it back up a few moments later a few tears ran down his cheeks. "Not me sweetie, your real dad. You know, the man that gave you life."

"I don't understand, I thought you said I don't have a real daddy?" I questioned.

"That's what I thought, but it turns out you do."

"How do you know he's my daddy?"

"Well, we don't," Abby said. "So we're going to have you take a DNA test."

"What's a D and A test?" I asked.

Daddy chuckled and shook my head, "Not D and A, DNA."

"It's kind of like a shot. The doctors take a little blood from you and your 'dad' to see if you have the same blood. If you do, it means he is your real daddy."

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow," Abby said.

I looked down and played with my thumbs, "But I don't want another daddy."

Abby grabbed my hand and smiled at me, "Just because he's your dad doesn't mean you have to be with him."

My dad smiled and me too. "She's right," he said. "You can go with him, or you can stay with me. It's your choice."

I got off the chair and jumped into my daddy's arm, "I choose you."

I felt him start to hug me and I could tell he started crying. I did too. So did Abby. Soon the three of us where on the floor hugging until Austin came in to see what was going on. After I told him and my daddy he just shrugged and we went back to our game.
