College Days

        I was never a popular guy in the college. I was very shy in nature. I used to attend all the lectures, I always had my submissions in time. I never had a gang, I used to talk with one or two people in the college. In short, I was a nerd or you can say that not so stud type.

That's enough about me. College was reopened after Diwali vacations. People were talking about their holidays, how they enjoyed, how many gifts they got and most important thing....mmmm I think you got it that is change in status of anyone and I was there sitting on the first bench, cursing teacher why she was late by 15 minutes which made us lose an opportunity to learn something new that too after such a long break.

So, I was looking at the door after every minute, waiting for my teacher to come. No sign of my teacher but one girl came almost running, around 5.5 feet tall, beautiful cascading hair which were falling on her shoulders, her eyes were mesmerising, she was wearing green kurti, her face were showing some kind of mixed expressions, nervousness, shyness and a guilt mostly because of she was late. I had never seen her in our college before. It's not the thing that I check on every girl or I do unnecessary scouting but I was sure about this one. She gave a sigh of relief after seeing no one is conducting lecture.

"New admission!", said battery. He used to have detailed information about almost every girl in the college. I don't know how he used to do this that time, especially when there was no WhatsApp or Facebook.

This unexpected information given by battery voluntarily made me little uncomfortable. To cover-up my situation I asked, "Who?" dammn innocently. "Don't bluff on me, I know you were staring at her. When you started doing all of these stuffs. I think you have done 'Simolanghan' (crossing the borders or to explore the new things) in real sense this Diwali.", said Battery. "Stop the nonsense battery." I said angrily.

" No re nothing is wrong in that, see her luck, it's her first day in college and she got the honour of being the first girl to whom you consider worthy enough to pay attention." He continued. Thank god mam came and the topic remained as it is.

After the lecture I rushed after her, "Excuse, excuse me, hello" She turned back and replied, "Hello". "I just wanted to tell you that, if you need any kinds of notes. I can provide them to you, as you are new student that too mid-term" I know it sounded lame but that's the highest thing a nerd like me can offer, I swear.

" No thanks, Mam has given me reference of one student named Ashok Avasthi. I will get notes from him." she said. She must be thinking that I am some kind of jerk, who is trying to be over smart. I can see this feeling on her face. I was regretting my move but that last sentence made me happy. I was jumping with joy in my mind but managed to remain calm from outside.

"Sorry, I didn't introduce myself properly. I am Ashok Avasthi."
