I have added a picture to this chapter of four different book covers created by two people, both for this book and The Queen. This chapter is dedicated to the creators of the book covers. Take a look at them and tell me what you think :)

Clara's POV

Independence. That was one of the main things that I sought after.

Don't get me wrong, I loved having relationships and being in one but I also loved having my own free will.

As an only child, my parents were both killed; hunters got the better of them. I am defined as what the supernatural world would call; a rare species. A dragon.

Dragons are so rare, there's thought to only be about five of them in the whole supernatural world, including me. Although most supernaturals just assumed that we were extinct, that's how rare we actually are.

At one point, dragons were out in full force but we fought off of raw instinct and brute strength and in the end, that proved to be our downfall.

The dragons in the past didn't fight with their minds, but rather with their strength and when you're up against a vampire or a Lattamer with a strategic mind that they have, it's not hard to tell who would come out on top.

I've been in my fair share of fights, most of which were with humans, but I never did any real damage.

Fighting a supernatural however was a completely different story. I once fought a mage and a werewolf together. Now that was a fight of a lifetime. A mage on their own is easy enough, as a dragon I'm impervious to magic but paired up with the skill and strength of a werewolf and you got yourself a fight to remember.

The thing with dragons is that, we have magic; it's not like a mage. It's more with words of power; we dragons have in our language. It isn't like a mage where they could manipulate it at will but it was effective enough to aid in a fight and believe me, when I fought the mage and werewolf, I wouldn't be alive today if not for the aid of that magic.

At the age of twenty-four, the equivalent to roughly 2,000 in supernatural years –I stopped counting after a while- I could be what you would consider as successful.

I am the CEO of Reylar Enterprise. It was a chain of stores that sold supernatural and non-supernatural weapons and armour ranging from silver bullets for werewolves to arrows laced in purified salt for mermaids. Reylar was a mash-up of my last name Reynolds, and my CFO's last name; Skylar.

Devin Skylar was my best friend and also happened to be a mage. We got along well considering we were on the opposite ends of the spectrum personality wise but we had the same career mind, which was business, it worked out extremely well for the both of us.

Now I never thought I would be in this line of business but through years of research, I found that there is a high demand for this, even from the Kings and Queens of the supernatural world themselves.

I sell a lot, but I never sell to hunters. Most of the time people buy from me for their own protection but selling to a hunter would mean betraying my own kind and that's something I would never do,

"Clara?"

At the sound of Devin's voice, I rose my head to face her and smiled.

Devin was beautiful, I couldn't deny that fact. Tonight, she was going out and she looked at her best right now. At one point in our friendship, I thought I was in love with Devin but as time went on, I realised it was just a crush and it didn't go anywhere. That of course never stopped me from complimenting her on a daily basis because if there's one thing I knew, it was that Devin was one gorgeous woman,
