Clara's POV

Why was I dreading tonight?

Oh wait, I knew exactly why. My best friend and girlfriend have been at each other's throats from the moment they met each other.

I was hoping that tonight would diffuse the animosity between the two of them but I wasn't holding my breath.

Devin is protective, she always had been. She had never been this protective over me though. Never to the point where she wants to physically fight.

Audrey can handle herself, I knew that but that didn't mean I wanted her to get into a fight with my best friend. I love Devin, to the very depths of my heart and I would forever be by her side but if she was in the wrong, I would call her out on it and inevitably side with Audrey. It worked in reverse as well.

I would side with whomever I believe is in the right. If there was a clear right side. If not, I'm staying out of it.

Everything was set-up for tonight, the only thing I was waiting for was the guests.

Juno had texted me saying Devin was finishing getting ready and Audrey had called me saying that she was around the corner so I knew she would be here soon.

Just as I thought that, the doorbell rang.

I ran a hand through my hair, making sure it looked okay before I smoothed out my dress shirt.

Now I was rarely speechless, but when I opened the door and laid my eyes on Audrey, my mind just went blank and my mouth dropped.

She was wearing a red dress that stopped just below her knees. It had one strap on the right shoulder and it hugged her in all the right places. As I looked down, I could see that she was wearing black Louboutin heels. I skimmed my eyes back up her body to look at her face that was covered with a light layer of make-up, enough to make it look like she had make-up on but not too much where it didn't look natural. Her red lipstick was a nice touch as well, although that would get smudged by the end of tonight no doubt.

Her hair was curled today, which was a nice surprise considering she usually left it naturally straight.

She was a beautiful woman on a normal day but my goodness, tonight, I had no words to describe how beautiful she looked. How sexy she looked in fact. I was going to have a hard time keeping my hands off of her tonight.

Goddess give me strength.

I bit my bottom lip as I looked directly into her eyes, "Are you going to let me in?" She spoke amused. I nodded and stepped to the side, allowing her to walk past me.

I also couldn't help but look down at her ass as she walked past me. I groaned inaudibly and mentally cursed before I closed the door behind me and turned back to face her, looking over her again one more time,

"Usually I'm very good with my words but you've effectively left me speechless so rather than me trying to say how amazing you look tonight; I'll just show you."

I backed her up into the wall and pressed my lips against hers. I didn't know what came over me. As soon as I saw her, it was like she ignited a fire in me that only she could put out.

When I thought I had gotten my point across, I pulled away from her and opened my eyes to look into hers,

"So, it's safe to say I look okay then?"

I laughed, "You look smoking hot."

She smirked, "Why thank you. You look gorgeous tonight sweetheart." She lifted up her right hand, which held a bouquet of roses, "For you."
