Zaezen Dewshield

The night drifted away as he held me in my sleep. When I woke, I looked back at him seeing his dark brown hair in his face.  Why am I trusting him, he killed my family. I was torn if I should get up or not, he would probably wake up if I tried to get up.

I didn't, and fell back asleep. Worse mistake ever, I dreamed, and shifters' dreams can be dangerous to them and others in the waking world.

I was running through the woods, the branches whipping at my face. Hundreds of Rangers chased after me, arrows whizzing by my head. I tripped falling over a log.

They were getting closer.

I ran for what seemed forever, till there was a rock wall, they surrounded me, knocking arrows, pulling swords out. I couldn't shift, couldn't talk. They pulled the arrows back, and released.

The arrows hit me, pain searing all through out my body. His voice broke the pain. He was shaking me, yelling for me, "Wake up! Its only a dream."

I shot up shaking, tears running down my cheeks. He pulled me close to comfort me, "You started chanting in your sleep. What happened?"

I looked wide eyed at him, "They're coming."

I jumped out of bed sliding on my shoes, he hurried after me putting his shirt on. "Who's coming! Slow down!"

I didn't, I ran and ran, the guards saw me and started yelling, he came running out of the inn pulling his hood up and running after me.

We ran away, weaving through the forest. We hit a clearing, my heart pounding my head spinning, he came up grabbing my arm. "We need to hide, it's too open here."

I couldn't think, random words ran through my head, I started saying the words aloud faintly, "Drakos day." I don't know how many times I repeated it but I started to feel funny.

I looked down, I shifted, I lowered my head for him and he got on. The guards started circling me, I swung my arm around knocking some down, and taking flight. I felt his hands clung to me as I flew. There was a loud screech.

Oooh crap, I'm screwed. I saw the white drake, "Who's that?" He had to yell for me to hear him, I didn't reply to him only flew to Leint. We landed in the field where I have been training with him.

He slid off my back and I shifted, my head lowered as Leint shifted back.

"Zaezen Dewshield!"

I knew I was in trouble. The man stepped forward, "It wasn't her fault, she got lost so she stayed with me." Leint was furious.

"You're that boy that I burned, I thought you died. Whats your name?"

He lowered his head in a bow, "Adraer Tirrin, sir."

Leint looked surprised, "Leader of the Rangers. Of all people in the world that took in the last Dewshield it had to be you. You are one crazy boy asking for a death sentence!"

I stood between them, "Leint settle down for Morcer sake."
There was tension between him and I, like lighting before the thunder.

"We will talk later Zae, take him back."

I snapped at him, "Why? He helped me."

"Do as you are told Zae, or there will be consequences!"

I backed off turning to Adraer, "Do you wish to go back."

He shook his head, "I can't leave you, you're in danger, but I do wish to fetch my younger brothers. They are loyal and never question my decisions."

 I nodded. "Very well."
