Tyler's POV:
"Tyler you're better than her anyway! Hey, since she's so overrated, why don't we find some other cute girls to talk to?" Jax nudges me. After texting Jax yesterday about what happened, he's now trying to help me get over it. I don't think walking down the hallway staring at cute girls is gonna help."Jax it's Ok man. All I said was ... She wasn't like I thought she was. And, she didn't even come to the t-shirt shop after school!" I tell him, throwing my arms in front of me.
Jax doesn't catch on, slowing asking, "And that means?"
"She doesn't wanna speak to me, not if I'm the only employee other than my Dad at the store." Jax raises his head saying, "Ohhh."
"Look, she's one of hundreds of girls in our school. She might be the most popular, but-"
Cutting him off, the bell rings, telling us to get to first period. I look at Jax and sigh. "Good luck bro." Jax punches me in the shoulder. "See ya Jax!" I yell as he's running away through the morning rush. I hurry through the hallway, almost bumping into a wall, to get to Algebra.
I break away from the flow of students and make it easily into Mrs. Warren's room. I walk to my desk and sit down, avoiding Katie's entire presence. We had to sit next to each other in this class; It was a good thing, but now I don't know.
"Hey, Tyler." Katie calls me. I tilt my head, glaring at her. "You need something?" I respond, not wanting to talk to her. I still can't believe she thinks I'm lame, after saying I was the best.
"I wanna apologize about yesterday. See Chase was being a real jerk and I want to say sorry for him." She explains, looking down at her desk. "What about you?" I press. Her head jerks back hearing me ask that. "What did I do?"
"You didn't go along with what Chase said yesterday?" I ask, confused. "No! He was mean! I told him after you ran away that he and I were done. Technically, we weren't even together, but it doesn't matter now." She tells me. I slap my hand on my head. They weren't even together and she still likes me; two things I enjoy corrected.
"So ... you don't think I'm-"
"No Tyler. I think your way better than that, trust me." She smiles. I sigh in relief. Now I don't have to get over her.
"But I do have one more question," Katie draws me attention. "Do you know what happened to my t-shirt yesterday? I lost it after ... actually, I don't know when I lost it. It was just gone when I needed it."
So she sincerely lost it, not threw it out. Yeah, maybe I was accusing her of being a little too shallow. "Um, yeah. I actually have it." I answer, zipping open my backpack. "I found it by the road walking home. I thought you didn't want it because of yesterday." I grab it, and show her the proof.
"I didn't try loosing it! I don't even know how it got on the street!" She exclaims, yanking the shirt out of my hands. "I missed it." She says, cuddling it like a teddy bear.
"Oh that's the shirt your talking about." Katies friend adds to the conversation. We both turned to her like she's crazy. "Yeah that fell out when I left your car and I forgot to tell you."
"You what!?!?" Katie flips out. "You saw this fall out of my car and didn't tell me?!"
"Well, no. I thought you didn't want it." Her friend makes an excuse. "Mary, I adore this shirt, actually, I adore all my clothes. Next time, don't ever let anything fall out of my car, Ok?" She makes sure. Mary rolls her eyes and answers, "Yes."
The bell rings, signaling class to begin. As Mrs. Warren starts going over the lesson for today, Katie puts a folded paper on my desk. I smile, quickly opening the note. Come to my house afterschool for that unfinished tour, is written on the letter. I face her, and nod my head in response. She happily dances in her seat as Mrs. Warren yells, "Tyler and Katie, pay attention!"
