Chapter 1
Hazel's POV
Two years ago, my life had turned upside down, my sixteenth birthday was the day everything was supposed to be perfect. I would have a party, one that everyone in near by packs came to. As the clock stuck midnight I was to find my mate, it would of been magical, he would see me, the music would stop playing, a spot light would shine down on us. He would tell me he loved me, we would be together forever.
But it wasn't anything like that. Instead I fell on my ass, and made a fool of myself as the whole school watched the one person who was supposed to love me for me, reject me. So the humiliation got to me, I let it control me. I ran until my feet bled and I couldn't hear their whispered any more.
I moved, to England, started schooling there. It was pure bliss, no one knew what happened to me back home, except for Dylan of course. Dylan had become my best friend. Someone who I could trust with anything. That's why I decided to bring him home with me.
Looking out the window of the moving car, I felt Dylans hand squeeze my thigh. Smiling a little towards him, he nodded, telling me everything would be okay. But I hadn't been home since my birthday. I left that night. I made my mom swear to never tell any one where I was. She called weekly, telling me everything that happened, keeping me updated.
She always believed I would come home one day, and she was right, I had to have come home eventually. Alex, the man who had rejected me had taken over his fathers position, after a freak accident his father disappeared. Leaving the Alpha position to claim.
Alex made my brother Jake his beta. They had always been good friends, my mom said no one knows about Alex and I, she says Alex told everyone I left because of Mariah, but that had happened the summer before.
My fathers car was the first thing I saw, then it was the balloons tied to the mail box. "You're mom did this?"
"Well it wasn't Alex." Dylan gave me a small smile but I shrugged it off. "I'll be fine. I have you." He smiled, but he knew how much it hurt to be rejected. How much it hurts for a mate to not even acknowledge your existence.
The cab came to a complete stop, my eyes wandered over the yard that was once filled with kids running around. Playing hide and seek, now even the grass looks dead. The front door opened, my mom running out. "Hazel!" She clapped her hands over her mouth.
Walking over to her, I embraced her in a hug. "Mom."
"Oh god you look beautiful." She pulled back taking in my appearance. The front door opened again. My heart stopped, almost dropping.
"Hazel." His voice sent shivers down my spine. I could finish it, I could reject him, severing the bond forever. "You look.." Jake walked past Alex, right to me, lifting me up and spinning me around.
"How you have grown." Laughing a little Dylan found my side.
"Guys you know Dylan."
"Heard lots about you bro." Jake and Dylan shook hands, pausing for a slight moment. "My sister has herself a fine mate."
"MOM!" I yelled turning to her, but before she could reply Dylans arm wrapped around my shoulder.
"We aren't mates, although I wish we were." shaking my head I looked back towards the house.
Swinging my bag over my shoulder I walked past Alex, brushing his arm with mine was enough to send the tingles flying.
Walking into my old room, dust flew around, flying into my nose. "Looks scary." Dylan whispered in my ear. He was right, the red walls seemed darker than I remember, black curtains kept the sun from shinning in, cobwebs lined the corners.
