Chapter 17
Hazels POV
The world around me had been seeming to fall apart. It was as if the trees didn't sway in the wind any more and the sun didn't smile its heat down onto the earth. It was like the world its self was off balance and as for the void in my heart. The longer I was away from Ana the bigger the void got.
Alex was searching the woods and he demanded I stayed home, because I couldn't find her in this state of mind. He even had the house guarded like I was going to try and escape and I would but I trust him to bring our daughter home. But its been hours since he left. I'm starting to get a little irritated.
The sun was setting and I don't know what it was but something in the air was begging me to follow it. It was as if my body was going against my will. I don't understand what it was or why the wind that was so lifeless only moments ago had become full of energy. But my feet kept going with it. Not even bothering with shifting I let my body run in the forest. Breaking the wind as my body ran through it.
Soon the ground that was once wet was dry and the moon shone bright through the trees. But the good vibe in the air that lasted only moments had begun to fallen. The speed of my legs slower than before. The feel of the wind gone. Now in its place stood the air. Still and cold. But it wasn't the air that made me uncomfortable. It was the circle of red eyes surrounding me. All the wolves slowly started moving towards me one stride at a time.
A growl from behind me had me on my knees in two seconds. Its power over me made me feel uneasy. But it was familiar. The way it flowed through my body. As if I had listened to it before. The power it held was something I knew all to well. It was Alpha power. Not just any Alpha power. An Alpha kings power. I've heard stories of the Kings. Most powerful of all. It was almost impossible to refuse a command.
I turned my head in hopes of seeing who the Alpha King was but another growl came through me this time harder. I had to try and hold my self up against the power. I needed to find my daughter and I would not surrender to his power. No matter how hard he tries. My love for my daughter is stronger than any thing I've ever felt. "I need to find my daughter." I slammed my hand on the ground.
"I will let you know when you can get up." He spoke. That voice. I would know that voice. The love of my life mimicked that voice.
"Gregg." I growled and he growled right back. "Is this why Alex and I haven't heard from you in years? To busy being the Alpha king?"
"Hazel, my dear daughter in-law." He walked to the front of me.
"Are you in on this?" I stood up. "Kidnapping your own grand daughter? What could you possibly get from all this?" I started walking around him.
"You see Hazel, Scott came to me with a very promising offer." He smiled. "As you know Alex's mother wasn't my mate but I did love her so much. As you know Alex was my only son because I didn't feel right after Alex just in case I did find my mate."
"What are you getting at?" I growled.
"You see, Scott has my mate." He stopped. "Your happiness for my mate. We take away what you love most and I get what I've always wanted. My mate."
"So you would rather see your son suffer?" I shook my head. "I get it you want your mate, but I want my daughter. We can work together. It doesn't have to be like this."
"But it does." Then he lunged.
Scotts POV
"MOMMY!" The little girl whose name had completely slipped my mind screamed for the 5th time.
