Chapter 4
Hazels POV
Watching his every move he moved from the pool, water dripping down his chest. Each droplet taking its time to glide down his body. Rolling my bottom lip between my teeth I tilted my sun glasses down slightly, looking at him with out the darkening tint. His eyes catch mine a small smirk playing on his lips. Pushing my sunglasses back onto my face I leaned back, my eyes still not leaving his body.
"You are something else." His runs the towel over his body, the droplets being absorbed. Alex smirked moving my feet up from the bottom of the lounge chair I was sitting in. Sitting down he moved my feet over his lap. "Did you like what you saw?" He questions, my body adjusting slightly under the uncomfortable gaze.
"You could say that." I smirked, playing the strings he left hanging. My gaze shifted slightly, his body adjusting trying to hide from me. Grabbing my hands he pulled me from my safe spot, my sunglasses flying from my eyes. "Alexander!" I warned, he lifted me into his arms, my body thralling around. "Come on, don't do this."
My body flew from his arms, a scream escaping my lips. His smirk the last thing I see before the water surrounds me. Hitting the bottom of the pool I spun around, kicking myself up. "I'm goin-" Before he could finish his body lunged into the pool. The water hitting me in the face, my breathing hitching as I inhale the chlorine filled water.
Coughing I swam over to the edge of the pool, gripping it as my lungs as a panic attack. "Hazel." Alex rubs my back trying to help the coughing. "I'm sorry I did-" Stopping the coughing he looked at me, his panic face falling. "You lit-" Before he could finish my hands pushed all the water they could into his face. Sliding under the water I pushed myself from the wall, trying to get as far as I could.
Hands wrapped around my waist pulling me back to the surface. Alex spun me around, his hands never leaving my body. Taking one hand he moved it up my stomach, hovering over my breast he continued his journey, our eyes never leaving each other. "I'm going to kiss you." He whispered, his fingers lingering on my chin.
Closing my eyes I nodded. "HAZEL, JACK IS HERE!" My mom called from the door way of the house. Alex dropped his hand, my eyes opening to his black ones.
"Alex." I mumbled, shaking his head he pushed away from me. "Alex." I reached out grabbing his shoulders, pulling myself up I wrapped my legs around him. Taking his face between my hands I slammed my lips onto his. Instantly he responded.
Jack stirred his almost black coffee. His eyes looking me over in the awkward silence. The small diner we reside in is booming with life. Wolves from all over town coming for their morning coffee. "They never released her body to us. That grave is empty."
"Jack." I whispered, I didn't want to talk about something like this.
He looked up at me, his eyes darkening. "Hazel, she could be alive."
"I thought you moved on." My voice is soft, treading on dangerous waters. "Come on, let her rest in peace." The day the men showed up at my door was the worst day of my life, and I couldn't imagine what it was like for them, but its been four years. "If she was alive we would know." I whispered reaching out to take his hand.
"Hazel, can I take you out, like a proper date." My hand pulled back, his face looking shocked.
"Jack, I have a mate."
He shook his head confused. "I thought you were rejected." A growl slipped through the diner as he spoke the words. Turning around Alex stood their his body ready to lunge at Jack. "Oh my god." He said pushing away from me. With out saying a word he ran back.
Running a hand over my face I looked back at Alex. "You followed me?" I questioned.
........
Its a sad day, tears falling as the rain fell. It was the first time in months it had rained in California, no one thought we would be standing around, umbrellas over our heads. The priest saying things along the lines of 'shes in a better place.' A wolf doesn't go to a better place. They go to Valahala a place only the dead can enter.
The black around me is almost to much, umbrellas are black, our clothes black. The roses we're throwing onto he black coffin are black. My body fell to its knees, reaching for the coffin that was so far. "Don't leave me!" I cried out, my hands itching to touch her one more time. "Mariah, you promised!"
Hands gripped my shoulders, their bodies pulling me away from the opening in the ground. "Don't touch me." I knocked them away from me, they went to reach for me again but a growl peeked through my lips. Their bodies backed away, my face placing itself on the ground.
"Hazel?" Alex called my name, my eyes peeking up at him. "You alright?" Nodding he leaned back in his office chair. My family sitting around him. "Okay, then I have something I'd like to discuss with you all." My mother leaned in her chair, something peeking behind her eyes. "Hazel is my mate."
Before anyone had time to react Jake was up from his chair, his fists flying into Alex's face. Alex let him throw one more before grabbing his hand. "You son of a bit-"
"Jake!" My father howled. Jake pulled back. His eyes staying on Alex, ready to lunge if needed. "Why tell us now?" My father asked, his eyes looking between us two.
"There was an incident and I wanted to tell you guys before someone else did." I said shrugging. "Alex and I are far from being mated, but I thought you guys needed to know that the moon decided we were the ones for each other."
"So he rejected you and that's why you left?" Jake asked disbelief spilling from his lips. "And you lied about your mate, an OMEGA? Really?" It was disgust that lingered in his words to Alex. "I felt bad for you." Shaking his head he jumped up. "I can't do this." Slamming the office door behind him I jumped slightly.
My mother opened her mouth then shut it. Standing up she sighed. "I'm-" She didn't finish her sentence going after Jake. Alex dismissed my father, not seeing a point for him to still be here.
"They hate me." I whispered bringing my knees to my chest.
Alex moved to my side his head shaking. "They don't hate you. They hate me for ruining you." My eyes wandered over his face. Regret filling it.
