On Saturday at 4:00pm, Trevor was at work in the ‘Burger Shack’. He stood in the kitchen flipping the hamburgers that cooked on the grill. The heat emitted from the grill made sweat drip down the side of his face. Making burgers all day was tiring, so Trevor was glad to know he only had five more minutes left on his shift.

He flipped two patties on the grill and placed one on a bun when his co-worker, Johnny came in. “What say there young blood?” the older gentleman asked, fixing his apron.

“Bout to call it quits man,” Trevor grinned. “I can’t wait to get off either. I’m spent.” Johnny chuckled and went to the grill to continue cooking what Trevor left on the stove.

“Boss man said you can go head and be gon’. Told me to tell you to be here tomorrow at noon,” Johnny said. Trevor cut his eyes at his verbal work schedule.

“Ight man, I’ll catch you lata’,” he pounded fists with his co-worked and walked out of the small restaurant.

Upon coming outside, Trevor met up with Thoro who had Desoto with him. Desoto left Thoro’s care at first glance of his master. He trotted to Trevor and stood on his hind legs, putting his paws all over Trevor’s apron.

“What up boy?” Trevor asked, roughing rubbing Desoto on the head.

“So you gon greet yo dog before you greet yo ‘dog’? Thoro joked, extending his hand to his buddy.

“What eva nigga,” Trevor smirked, dapping Thoro up. “What’s up though?”

            “Nothin’,” Thoro shot back.

Trevor felt a vibration in his pocket and reached in to get his phone. “Hello?” he answered, seeing it was India who called.

“Hey Trev,” India greeted. “What you doin’?”

“On my way back to the crib,” he replied. Thoro already knew who his buddy talked to and stepped closer to him, forming taunting facial expressions to distract him. “What bout you?” Trevor asked, pushing Thoro away.

“Nothin’. Chilling at the house…” she paused on the phone, like she was thinking about something. “Hey, do you mind if I come over?”

Trevor’s face lit up. “Yea, yea yea…” he repeated, holding in his excitement. “Um, you know how to get here?”

“No, I was wondering if you could meet me at me at my job?”

“Yo that aint no problem,” Trevor quickly responded. “You gotta let me straighten up first though.”

India giggled over the phone lightly. “Okay, I’ll leave the house in twenty. Hope that’s enough time.”

“Plenty, see soon Indy,” Trevor said, hanging up.

“Indy?” Thoro questioned. “That’s yo nick name for yo boo? Indy?”

“Shut up nigga,” Trevor snapped. “Fore I sic my dog on yo ass.”

Thoro sucked his teeth, looking at Desoto. “Man Desoto wouldn’t hurt me.” He leaned over and petted Desoto while walking. “Aint that right boy.”

“He would if I told him to,” Trevor added, heading down the sidewalk.
