Zion hadn't managed to earn a minute of pleasant sleep the entire night on the unrelenting ocean. She groaned as the sun finally peaked over the horizon, casting morning light upon the icy winter waters. Since she hadn't slept, the brunette decided to examine the boat's kitchen and prepare something for those who awoke soon after her.
The girl groggily pulled on her undergarments, consisting of dark cotton shorts and a simple undershirt, before stumbling up the stairs to the top deck and heading into the small room reserved as the kitchen. She found ground coffee beans and prepared a warm mug for every one of the crew. She added barely any cream to hers, adding slightly more for Lenalee, Lavi, and Allen, then did not add any cream nor sugar to Kanda's, assuming her would prefer his beverages just as sweet as his personality.
As she periodically took sips of her much enjoyed coffee, Zion searched through the cabinets for some sort of breakfast food. The only thing she managed to come across were some spices and bread. She heated the bread lightly over the stove and set several pieces on a large plate. On top of the bread, she melted several sweetened spices, including sugar and cinnamon, to give the bread a little extra touch of sweetness.
Zion allowed a satisfactory smile to reach her pale lips as she watched the steam rise from the bread. However, her joy was interrupted by a particularly unsociable person who clumsily stumbled into the kitchen. The smile had now become forced as she greeted him.
"Morning, Kanda." She received no response. He grunted as he discovered a nearly black-colored beverage sitting among four others on the counter. He looked at the female Exorcist with a raised eyebrow, questioning what the purpose of the drink was.
"It's yours." Zion mumbled kindly, sipping her own coffee. She then gestured to the plate filled with several pieces of bread. "I made these for you all as well." The brunette mentioned nonchalantly. With no effort to display gratification, Kanda took a piece of bread and bit into it. His eyes widened at the taste.
"It's sweet." He mumbled, looking at Zion peculiarly.
"Yeah." She nodded sarcastically.
"I don't like sweet things." Kanda grumbled, bringing the bread away from his mouth. The brunette sighed, crossing her arms and balancing herself on one leg more than the other.
"Well I made that damn thing, so you better eat it before I beat you with a pan." Zion retorted not-so-kindly.
"I didn't say it was bad." The cold Exorcist said quietly before leaving for the top deck. She watched him walk towards the bow of the boat with his silky black hair flowing behind him. A sigh escaped through her lips as another young Exorcist came through the kitchen door. This time, it was a more pleasant person, so Zion's face lit up with a smile.
"Good Morning!" She greeted joyfully. "I heated up some bread and made coffee for you all."
"Really?! You're great, Zion." Lenalee smiled as her dark hair bounced above her shoulders. "Did Kanda already come get some?" She asked, ready to drag him back into the small room if he had rudely declined the brunette's food.
"He did. Though he didn't take his coffee." The girl complained. Lenalee took a bite of the sweet bread as a please expression crossed her face.
"This is fantastic! You made this?" The Chinese girl pried excitedly.
"What did our little Zion make?" A flirtatious voice emerged from the stairs as two sets of feet walked into the room. A particular red-haired Exorcist smirked and a white-haired young man smiled when they entered the small room. "Morning!" Lavi waved as Allen greeted them as well.
