The streaks of sunlight that peaked through the window shined over Zion's sleeping eyelids. Once the sun reached a pivotal point in the sky, the brightness forced her hazel eyes to open, waking up remotely sore due to the events of that night.
After several hours of trying to force herself to sleep, the brunette finally did slip into unconsciousness, only to wake up about an hour or two later. Getting any more rest was futile in her case. She shifted to the left, moving her ankle so the slight turn wouldn't hurt her. She saw Kanda sitting beside the bed she was in, leaning against the wallpaper of the old, creaking wall. He was asleep, clearly exhausted from the night before. His silky hair was still tied back, though several tousled strands escaped being bound to the rest of it.
Sure that he was in a deep sleep, Zion reached out a delicate hand, taking a piece of Kanda's soft hair between her fingers. The subtle action caused his eyes to flutter. The girl immediately took her hand away and embarrassedly turned her head so she wasn't facing him. A mild blush crept to her cheeks as she tried to appear to be sleeping.
Kanda snorted as he discovered the obvious lie. The brunette heard him stand up and walk to the opposite end of the room, the wood creaking with every step. She turned back to face him, who was now facing the wall away from her.
"How's your ankle?" The black-haired man grumbled, seeming as though he didn't care, but he was still asking.
"Fine." Zion mumbled even though she hadn't really used it in order to judge the severity of the injury.
"Then stand." He commanded as he shifted slightly to give her a part glance which remained as the girl obeyed. She tiredly pushed herself up, throwing the bed sheets off of her body. Her hair was in tossled whisps from turning the remaining portion of the night. Using the wooden frame to support herself, she placed her bare feet on the floor and cautiously stood up. The girl placed the injured foot down slowly without much weight relying on it. Her first step away from the bedside proved successful. So she took another, and another, until she had limped across nearly half of the room. A small smile cracked through her lips as she was pleased with her performance.
However, she took one sure step, and her ankle gave way. Zion placed her small hands in front of her face to shoulder the fall, but those hands were soon pressed against her body as something else kept her from hitting the wooded flooring. She was engulfed in strong, warm arms that brought her upright once again. As soon as she was able to support herself, Kanda let go of her, turning around again as he begun to grip the hems of his grey shirt that he had slept in.
"What are you doing?" Zion asked, alarmed by his sudden action.
"Getting changed. I don't mind if you stare, just don't be annoying." Kanda grunted before fully removing his shirt. His muscles flexed with every movement, but before she could analyze more, she turned around. The brunette's cheeks grew rosy at the thought of the boy changing just a few floorboards away.
"I'm not going to watch! Who do you think I am?! Lavi?!" The female Exorcist screamed in defense while insulting their other comrade.
"I'd much rather have you watch me undress than Lavi." Kanda snorted. Zion squealed.
"I won't! Never, ever, ever!" The blush had consumed her face as tears of embarrassment threatened to spill from her eyes.
"We'll see about that..." He grimaced, placing a sturdy hand on the girl's shoulder as he walked past, wearing everything but his Exorcist coat. When he displayed the sickening smirk to her, she made a defiant sound while sticking out her tongue.
"Oh dear. Lover's quarrel?" An eccentric Lavi burst through the unlocked door, portraying a silly smile.
"Lovers?!" Zion retorted in disgust as Kanda snorted, pulling on his leather coat.
