The first day on the wooden boat had come to a close as the Exorcists watched the sun escape behind the horizon once again.  The sight brought smiles to each of their faces, except for Kanda of course.  Once again, Zion was leaning over the railing, watching the pink and orange hues dance on the white-capped waves.  Standing not exactly next to her, but a few steps away was her icy 'companion.'

His silky black hair blew in the direction of the wind and his eyes were closed as if to be in peace. Maybe he's actually approachable now... she allowed her mind to think.

Zion shifted a few steps to her right so she was closer to Kanda, yet a respectable distance so he could be decently comfortable.

"The sunset was pretty..." The brunette trailed, pulling a few strands of hair behind her ear.

"Whatever." The cold man murmured.

"Stop being so pouty and enjoy it." She demanded, catching Kanda off-guard.  He turned to face her, who was still staring into the ocean, with slightly widened dark eyes before returning to his usual stoic expression.

"It happens every time the sun goes down.  It's not like it's unusual." He grumbled, looking at the darkening sky as stars began to shine.

"And we don't know when our last sunset will be..." Zion said in nearly a whisper, also reverting her attention to the shining stars and the escaping sunset tones.

Much to her surprise, she felt a strong hand ruffle the hair on the top of her head.  With wide hazel eyes, she looked at Kanda, who wore an uncharacteristically slightly kind expression.  If someone did not know him, they would think that he would be as cold and emotionless as ever.

"You won't die anytime soon, Pup." The female Exorcist couldn't help but crack a pleased smile.

"You better not be dying anytime soon either, Yu." She emphasized the name that Kanda dreaded, earning a hateful glare from him.  The girl displayed a teasing smile and released a small chuckle.

"Maybe you will die if you call me that." He spat, tightening his grip on her scalp.

"Ow, ow, ow! Okay! Mercy!" Zion whined as Kanda released her with a devilish smile.

With an exchanged smile, the irritable man left for his cabin without a word.  "Good night!" She called after him, and to be expected, she received no response.

After about an hour of watching the sky change from hues of orange into dark violet, Zion decided to head back to her quarters as well, stopping by both Allen and Lavi's doorways to say good night to them.  She received no answer from Allen, just snores that signaled his deep slumber.  From Lavi, she earned an invitation to his bed, which she immediately declined, twitching an eyebrow irritably.

After closing the wooden frame behind her when she entered the room that she shared with Lenalee, she was greeted by a welcoming smile.  She sat at the edge of the bed, brushing her silky, shoulder-length hair with a tie laced between her fingers.  Setting down the brush, she pulled half of her hair to the side of her head and wrapped the elastic around it.  She gathered the remaining hair and did the same.

"It's still too short, isn't it..." Lenalee sighed, looking at her friend for approval.  Tied in its symmetric ponytails, the strands barely reached the bottom of her ear.  Zion nodded sorrowfully, knowing how much everyone adored her dark locks.  The long-haired brunette sat on her side of the bed, falling to her plush pillow before sighing.

"Two more days on this boat." She mentioned exhaustedly while her friend smiled equally as tired.

"Bonding time!" Lenalee cheered, earning a laugh and an eye-roll from Zion.
