The only thing in the dark room that was audible was Zion's soft breaths.  She was fast asleep, curled on her side under the thick covers.  In the room beside her, Kanda was polishing his blade in silence.  Across from the two, Lavi was snoring in a peaceful slumber.

None of them knew what was going on outside their windows.  The glowing moon became shielded, causing shadows to stretch across the checkered sheets that covered the female Exorcist, though nothing disturbed her steady breaths.

A figure made its way eerily over the girl's curled body.  A mysterious click caused Zion to groan in the process of waking up.

"Good morning, Exorcist." A sly, disgusting voice murmured.  The girl's hazel eyes flung open at the unusual words, consuming the figure in her vision.  "Or should I say, good night?" A mangled smirk stretched on his face.

Before doing what was logical, the brunette screeched.   She rolled off of the bed to escape immediate line of fire from the Level Three Akuma that invaded her hotel room.  Finally thinking, the young girl commanded her Innocence to activate.  Crystalized blood stretched from the bracelets that wrapped around her wrists to an elaborate hand guard shielding her small fingers.  Stretching from the crimson-colored hilt was a long and then, yet sturdy blade fueled with Innocence.

Zion dodged another attempted attack from the Akuma, knocking into a glass lamp in the process. It shattered on the floor beside her naked feet causing the Exorcist to curse as a shard slit a small portion of skin on her foot.  Blood oozed from the fresh wound.

"Pup!" Desperate words cried from the locked door as strong fists pounded on its relatively fragile wooden frame.

"Look at that, she has a savior..." The demonic being hissed, earning a threatening glare from Zion as she stepped closer to the door in attempts of opening it.  However, her attempts were futile as it attacked again.

"Open the damn door!" The cold words were accompanied by unrelenting pounding.

"I can't!" Zion finally replied, continuing to dodge the Akuma's quick attacks.  Every once in a while, she tried to swing her rapier at the being, but was unsuccessful.

She heard the wood splinter from the door, eventually giving way to a huffing and groggy Kanda who possessed a sharp blade, ready to strike.

"I don't need protection!" The female Exorcist protested, dodging another sudden attack.  This time, she slipped on the bed sheets that were thrown from the bed haphazardly.  She fell below Kanda, clutching her left foot, the one that had slipped off the fabric.  She mumbled curses before attempting to bring herself to another battle-ready position.  When she supported herself on her left leg, it gave way, causing her to collapse again.

Kanda took a sturdy step over Zion's crippled body.  He positioned himself for attack, gaining the upper hand on the Akuma.  The demonic being cursed as the Exorcist swung Mugen at is.  Eventually, the creature achieved a relatively deep cut on its right arm.  It cursed spiteful words, clutching it's wounded arm before falling from the open window.  Kanda immediately looked through it, seeing absolutely nothing where Akuma would have fallen.  So, he reverted his attention to Zion who was curled up on the wooden floorboards, clutching her injured foot.

"What's wrong?" He asked with a spiteful tone.

"I think it's sprained..." The injured Exorcist mumbled through gritted teeth.  Kanda placed a supportive arm under her shoulders, bringing her to a clumsy stand on one foot.  With his assistance, the two hobbled towards the plush bed.  When they sat, the girl winced and bit her lip in pain.  Once he set her down, Kanda kneeled on the floor before her, examining her injured foot.

"This isn't sprained. It's broken." As delicately as possible, Kanda ran a finger across her ankle until he found the portion that was clearly broken.

"Ow!" Zion winced, squeezing her eyes shut in pain.  He flicked his cold eyes toward the girl momentarily.

"Sorry." He grumbled before returning his focus to her foot.  "Wait here, I have bandages in my room." The man demanded as he quickly left for the room next to hers.

"'Cause I can totally go anywhere right now..." The brunette managed to retort sarcastically while rolling her pain-filled eyes.  In that moment, a groggy Lavi appeared in her doorway, wiping the tiredness from his eye.

"What the hell happened here?" The red-haired man took in her ruined hotel room as broken decorations littered the flooring.

"What amazing timing you have, Lavi." Zion groaned.  Kanda returned with white fabric in his blood-stained hand.  He snorted, almost as if he was laughing.  "An Akuma broke in..." The girl stated.

"What?" Lavi blinked in surprise. "Are you alright?" He pried worriedly as he hurried to her side, taking her hand when he sat on the bed beside her.

"Broken foot.  Other than that, I'm fine." The female Exorcist then bit her lip to stifle a cry as Kanda began to wrap bandages around her ankle.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" Concern glowed in his green eye when he looked at the girl.

"It would be fantastic if you could start cleaning the room." It was more as if she ordered it, but Lavi took that as an suggestion.

"Of course, Zion." He quickly wiped a few strands of brown hair from her forehead, planting a small kiss there before leaving to get a dustpan to clean the broken fragments of glass.  The subtle action brought a blush to the injured girl's face.

"You like him." Kanda concluded suddenly, still focusing on her foot.  Zion blinked before defending herself.

"Of course not!" She protested, puffing her cheeks as she pouted.

"Why are you blushing?" He was now looking directly into her nervous, hazel eyes.

"Any girl would!" The female Exorcist continued to defend, crossing her arms defiantly.

"Tch.  Just because it's Lavi." Kanda shook his head in disapproval as the silky black strands of his hair tossed around on top of his shoulders.

"No!" She wanted to stand up and face him, but couldn't.

"Are you saying that if any guy kissed you on the forehead, you would blush?" A scarce sense of playfulness was in the man's voice.

"Not any guy..." Zion trailed defensively.  As she closed her eyes to relieve the anger that bubbled in her chest due to Kanda's ridiculous accusations, she felt strong hands pick her up.  Upon opening her shocked eyes, she noticed the said Exorcist carrying her. "Hey! What're you doing!"

"Shush, Pup.  You can't sleep in this room, it's a mess." Kanda's eyebrow twitched irritably as he tried to stifle the wriggling girl.  Seconds later, they were in his room, and he lied her on the bed.  He pulled the covers up to her chin.  "I'll be over there, so you don't have to worry." A sturdy finger pointed to the corner beside the wooden frame of the bed.

"As if I would worry..." Zion stuck up her nose in defiance, earning a snort from the uncharacteristically kind, yet still cold man.

Approaching footsteps caught both of their attention.  A bright-haired Exorcist stood in the doorway.  Kanda left her side momentarily to persuade Lavi to leave them be for the night.  After much threatening and persuading, Lavi did leave for his own hotel room.  The black-haired man shut the door to their shared room and returned to the brunette's crippled side.

"Now rest up 'cause we have to find that thing again tomorrow." He ran a hand through her locks before leaning closer to her helpless, tired figure.  Kanda planted a short yet fully noticed kiss on her forehead, earning an even more severe blush from the girl who shut her eyes in embarrassment.

"You blushed." A short laugh escaped Kanda's lips as he left Zion to sleep, though sleep wasn't exactly something she would get any of that night.
