TRIS'S POV

I run out of the room with teary eyes and a runny nose. I can't believe he didn't want me to go. The factions are were my parents lived... And died. It's were I met Tobias. Although there were bad memories, I've decided to at least try to forget them. To push them away with everything good. To push them away with warm, chocolatey dauntless cake and adrenaline rushing zip lining. With capture the flag and hanging out with Chris. With Tobias. How can I be the only one to see it that way?

I run into the room with all the family trees and rush over to mine. I brush my fingers gently over my parent's names, then to Caleb's. I'm the last Prior. I let that thought sink in, and collapse to the floor in tears. My vision blurs as I cradle myself in the corner or the room. Slightly shaking, I stand up and force my self to trudge out of the room.

I step quietly back into the dorm. It's so silent in there. The only people who are still in there are me, Shauna, Tobias, and Zeke. The silence is painful. It makes me realize what a long and eventful journey this has been, and how many people we've lost along the way.

~~~FLASH BACK~~~
A gunshot sounds throughout the boisterous screams in the distance. My body quickly turns around to face were the the sound came from. I see my mother's limp body fall violently to the ground. I let out a penetrating yell as I watch the life flow out of her. I want to save her, but she would have wanted me to leave her. It's supposed to be like this. That's what I have to tell myself. But I'll always have that voice in the back of my head telling me otherwise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A dauntless soldier abruptly grabs my injured shoulder. I yelp in pain as I grasp my gun and pull the trigger, oblivious to who I just shot. I catch a glimps of the body crashing to the ground. Will. I reach out my hand in attempt to grab his, but my attempt is in vain. I rush over to his crippled body, but it's too late. His empty eyes stare blankly into space. I can't save him. I have to go find my brother and father to save myself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My father runs down the hallway towards the dauntless soldiers to distract them so I can escape. That's when I hear the piercing gunshot. A deafening scream burns in my throat. I try to go and save him, but the elevator doors close just I front of my eyes. I fall to the ground with tears trickling from my eyes and sobs bubbling from my throat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I let out a blood curtailing cry as the three jump from the building. Instinctively I reach out my hand and grab Hec's. I pull him up and peak over the edge. Tears flood my vision as I see the crippled sight of Marlene laying in an unnatural position on the hard concrete. I fall to the ground, for I had just lost another person.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watch silently as Lynn lays on the gurney. She looks pale and her eyes are drooping. The blight of her is just too much to handle. I look away only to put my eyes back on her. And I watch as the life slowly drains from her limp body. I watch her lifeless body get carried away through my tear filled eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I cry for help as I hear the vicious scream escape Tori's throat. Running over there, I see her body pathetically lying at sharp angles on the grass. Crimson blood rushes from the bullet wound as I let out another shrill scream for help. We were so close to reaching outside the gate. She would have finally seen the outside world! Her muscles suddenly un-tense, and at that moment, I know she has just stopped fighting

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as I found out about Uriah, I rushed to the infirmary. I push passed all the nurses caring for injured patients. Just another effect of the attack. I see Uriah and dash to his side. Next to him is see Chris sobbing into her hands. Tears flow from my eyes while I look at his dying body. "The blast put him into a coma." Christina says between sobs. That's all she needed to say. I didn't need to know anything more. The statement itself was so fragile, we couldn't risk breaking it. A gasp comes from my throat when I realize that Tobias did this to him. Where does this leave us? Could I ever forgive him?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm only inches away now. And that's when I hear the gun fire. As soon as the first bullet pierces the air, I see Caleb. Wait... Caleb? He jumps in front of me as the bullet tears into his flesh. He falls to the ground and let's out a scream. A scream that I can tell is full of pain, fear, sorrow, and suffering. Caleb just took a bullet for me.

~~~~~PRESENT TIME~~~~~
I cringe as the painful memories flood my already fragile mind. Remembering these makes me so thankful for my life. I've dodged all these bullets. Literally and metaphorically. That could have been my lying on the muddy ground covered in crimson blood.
I realize that it isn't worth it. Toby's right. The factions harbor too many bad memories. I shouldn't go. I need to find him.
