As soon as I got home, I checked my phone. The time read 4:25. Crap. I grabbed my backpack and walked through the back gate. I knocked on Jake's back door and he answered almost immediately.
He leaned up against the doorframe. "Hey Princess." he greeted.
"Jake, you know I hate it when you call me Princess." I whined.
     "Sorry Ella" he apologized.
"It's ok." I said calmly as I followed him to his living room. There was something off about him. He was either really good at acting or genuinely being nice to me. I made a mental note to tread lightly.
Jake's P.O.V
I was being nice, but I prayed she didn't know that I was being 100% sincere.
"So, Monday. Says here that we need to have some sort of confessional." she said.
"What on earth is that?" I inquired.
"Just say the things you feel are holding you back from having a friendly relationship with your partner. At least that's what the page says." she answered.
"You go first." I said, hoping to buy myself some time.
        "I don't know...really." she said, rather absentmindedly.
"Well, in the third grade, I had a tiny crush on you. That's kinda why I did all those things." I blushed. And just for the record, I am not one to blush.
"So that's your excuse for dumping paint in my hair?" She chuckled.
         "Yeah. I guess"
"Well if I have to be honest, I've always hated you because you lure my friends in so easily and you break their hearts and I'm the one who has to clean up the mess." she confessed.
The mood changed from playful to depressing in a matter of seconds.
"I'm...I'm so sorry. I didn't know you felt that way." I said.
       "It's ok" she replied.
"What's next on the list?" I tried to move on to change the subject because I hated seeing her sad. Wait a minute...since when did I care so much? Then it hit me. I'm falling for Ella.
Ella's P.O.V
"Anything we want." I replied. I noticed Jake wasn't being himself.  He was treating me like his sister. It didn't make sense. I knew Jake like the back of my hand. But I was acting weird, too.
Every time he talked, I got lost in his eyes. Wait...since when did I even look in his eyes? Then it hit me. I'm falling for Jake.
