"Everything is fine. The heartbeat is normal. You have a normal healthy baby growing inside you." The nurse smiles as she moves the cold gel around my belly.
"Are you sure?" Harry asks. Holding my hand tightly.
"Positive." She nods. She really has no idea what's going through our minds right now. Questions we can't ask her. Is the baby really normal? How can it be, when its parents aren't normal at all. All I can smell and hear is her blood. I'm struggling to hear what she's saying.
"Okay. Thank you." Harry nods, smiling at me slightly.
I thought this would reassure me, but it hasn't. If the baby is a vampire I don't think this nurse would be able to tell that by looking at her little machine and doing her job. My heart is beating so fast as all these awful situations go flying through my brain.
"Babe try to calm down." Harry says quietly as he can hear my heartbeat. We sense each other's mood a mile away. If Harry is feeling something I feel it too, and it's the same for me. I wonder if we'll be able to sense our babies moods too, that would be quite good. Most parents would love to know what's going through their children's heads.
"Okay. All done here, you can pull your top back up now." The nurse smiles. I do as she says and follow harry out the nurses room after we can our goodbyes.
I look down at the scan pictures in my hand and sigh. "Harry, that did reassure me."
"I know babe, we'll just have to wait until it's born to know exactly what we're dealing with." He says.
Dealing with. Right.
