Chapter Twenty Two

Jason's POV
Today is Jaxon's first birthday and Ryan and I are setting up for his party this afternoon. I can't believe he is already a year old. "Jason, I'll finish decorating here if you will go and pick up the cakes." Ryan says hanging balloons from the ceiling. "Ok, I'll be back." I say grabbing my keys and walking out the door. The last few weeks, Ryan and I have been kind of distant. I'm not 100% sure what is wrong but I don't want to ask her and make it worse. I get to the bakery and pick up the cakes. I open the boxes and look at them. They are decorated in a fishing theme and they look amazing. I can't wait for Ryan and Jaxon to see them.

I pull in the driveway and Ryan is outside with Jaxon, Kendyl, and Keeley. The girls are playing with their brother and Ryan walks out to my truck to help carry the cakes inside. "Whoa baby!" This looks awesome." I say as I walk in the house and see all the decorations. "Thanks. The girls helped out quite a bit." She says with a small smile. I decide that since the kids are outside, I can talk to Ryan. "What's bothering you baby girl?" I ask her hoping that she will actually talk about this. "I don't know. I mean Jaxon is turning one and I've been thinking about having another baby. I just have myself worried that you aren't going to want another baby." She tells me with tears welling up in her eyes. "Ryan we can have all the babies you want. Don't stress and worry yourself about that. We can start trying tonight if you want." After I finish reassuring her, she walks up and wraps her arms around me. I kiss her softly on the lips and smile and ask, "Are we trying for another baby."

Ryan's POV
"Are we trying for another baby?" "I guess so." I say to Jason with a smile and kissing him again. We pull away when the doorbell rings. "Let's celebrate our son's birthday." Jason says walking off to answer the door. Luke, Caroline, and their boys walk in behind Jason. I hug Luke and Caroline while the boys head outside to play with the girls and Jaxon. "You need help with anything while the guys cook?" Caroline asks sweetly. "Yeah, you can finish the potato salad if you want." I tell her with a smile. She gets to work on the potato salad and I start setting up the cakes and the present table.

The party is in full swing and everything is going great. All the kids are running around and all of us adults are sitting out around the fire pit just talking and hanging out. "Thank you all for coming and making my baby boy's birthday amazing. What do you say we round up the kids and take them inside for cake and presents?" Jaxon looks at the cake and just sticks his face in it. We all laugh and Jason is taking pictures. After getting Jaxon all cleaned up, we head to the living room to open presents. All I can say, is that this baby boy is spoiled rotten. Everyone has left and the kids are tucked in bed. Jason and I are sitting on the couch enjoying the quiet while it lasts. "Lets go try for a baby." I say with a laugh as I grab Jason's hand and pull him upstairs.
