Nick POV

I was widely awake when the time showed 5 in the morning. It was still dark outside and the weather was so comfortable for me t to back to sleep but I couldn’t. I kept on anxious not knowing whether Mia would have another bad dream or not.

It was heart breaking to see her in agony. She must have been through a very bad experience that haunted her until this day. I was sure that she won’t tell me. She didn’t trust me. But last night, she kissed my cheek. She certainly didn’t hate me then.

‘Was she a rape victim?’ I asked myself.

It would be a perfect sense because she shuttered at me but not to Nana and my mom.

Those nightmares, could it be that she relives it every time she sleeps.

If yes, how horrible that is.

I stood up from my bed, went for shower and wear my regular working outfit and took my keys. I drove to my Nana’s house, knowing that she’s in the morning shift, so she must have been awake already.

I parked my car and entered Nana’s house through the front door that was not locked. It was another sign that they were awaked already.

“Nana? Mia?” I called when Bow and I were in the living room.

Nana walked in from the kitchen, “What a surprise, it’s very early.”

“Breakfast for me Nana?” I asked her after I gave her kisses.

“Sure, come to the kitchen,” She said walking to the stove in the kitchen. She cooked another bacon and eggs.

There I saw Mia who looked as beautiful as ever but her eyes showed not enough sleep.

“Morning Nick,” She said softly. I forgot how beautiful her voice was.

“Morning Mia,” I said hugging her. She didn’t shiver. “How’s your sleep?”

“Okay,” she said and resumed her eating.

I knew it was not. “Let me drive you to the restaurant.”

“No, I don’t want to trouble you.” She said immediately.

Nana put the food on my plate and Mia helped me to pour my milk.

“No trouble at all. I can take you home too today, I only work until noon.”

I took a glance at Nana who was staring at me. Obviously because I was here so early in the morning, which I never did before and probably because I kept on begging Mia to let me take her to work.

“Well, okay then.” She said, again, with her soft voice, “Let me get my purse in my room, and we can go.”

Nana sat next to me right after she left the kitchen, “Are you interested in Mia?”

I felt warm on my cheeks, I must have been blushing.

“You like her?” Nana looked so exciting.

I smirked to her but not answering anything. It was awkward enough having this conversation with her.

“But she has some issues, it will not be that easy dear,” Nana said with soften eyes.

“I know Nana,” I exhaled my long breath, “I know. I’m not sure what I’m feeling about her. Is it like a brother to his sister? Is it like a friend? Or is it more? I’m not sure yet.”

“Are you ready?” Mia asked after she popped in to the kitchen.

I smiled to her that made her smiled back at me, “Yup. Let’s go. Bye Nana.”
