Katniss Everdeen's father did not die in a mine accident, because he was a god. He had two children with Katniss's mother. Prim and Katniss. He wanted to stay with his children even though he couldn't, because of his duties at Olympus. He fakes a mine accident though her mother knew exactly what happened. Since Apollo is the god of healing and archery, each of his daughters got one of his attributes. Katniss was able to hunt well and was amazing with a bow and some arrows. Prim got the attribute of healing and was outstanding for her age. Apollo was the god of music and poetry which explains why he would sing to Katniss and Katniss could sing well, too. Therefor, that makes Prim and Katniss demigods.
