Cato watched as Clove walked slowly up to the stage. Nobody would volunteer for her, so he knew what he had to do. He waited until the boys name was called then ran out into the aisle.

Looking up into her eyes he shouted out; ‘No! I volunteer as tribute.’

Without waiting for them to call him up, he walks strongly up onto the stage, and then grabs her hand.

As the chaperone carries on speaking, he squeezes her hand and flash her a smile. She looks back at him, eyes full of fear. He knows she’s strong enough that she’ll be ok, but they were going into The Hunger Games, it’s going to be rough in there.

As they walk through the door to the justice building he turns to her and says, ‘You’re going to win, I know it.’ He gives her a wink and she smiles slightly.
