"Psst! Kale! Over here." Kyle whisper-screamed.
"I see you've all already grouped up." I whispered back, seeing Jess and Claudia also with him
"Except Tyler." Jess said.
"Right here, guys." Said nothing.
"What? Tyler, where are you?" Claudia said, spinning her head around.
"I'm right here." Tyler said, poking Claudia. The reason we couldn't see him is because he was dressed in all black clothes, including a ski mask.
"Tyler, take off the dang ski mask." Jess said with a flat face.
"Why?" He asked, whining.
"Because it makes you look like a criminal, which I cannot stress enough the fact that we are not here to steal." Claudia scolded.
"Are we gonna break into an abandoned building or what?" Kyle asked.
"We gotta wait on Will!" Claudia said.
"Who's Will?" I asked, confused.
"Duhhh, he's our friend. The defensive guy. You seriously can't have forgotten him." Claudia informed.
"Yeeeeaaaah. I definitely remembered he existed...." My voice trailed off.
"Okay, I'm here now." Will said quietly from the shadows. "When you said that we were going to break into an abandoned laboratory, I didn't quite believe you, but here we are."
"Yeah. Now let's enter." I said, sneaking up to the front door and grabbing Tyler so he could pick the front door's lock. Turns out that friend of a friend or whatever couldn't hook him up. Kchunk. The door was unlocked and we slowly opened it. I peered around the edge and saw a normal interior of an auto body shop. A car was parked in the back left corner as well as nearly every inch of the wall being covered with some sort of tool. In the middle, however, was an elevator.
"Hey, guys. Last time I checked, I don't think auto body shops have elevators in the middle of the room with-" My voice trailed off as I opened the elevator and checked the button console. "four floors."
"Yeah. definite red flag there. Let's head in, shall we?" Jess said, hopping in the elevator. She hit the 'B4' button once all of us had entered the elevator and we started our descent. The elevator was dead silent. No creaking, no squeaking, no elevator music, and not even a polite ding once we passed every floor. It was just pure silence. Clunk. The elevator made one noise as it reached the bottom of its shaft. I took a look around and saw a mad scientist's mess. On the right side of the chamber, barely visible because of all the papers consisting of overdue taxes and testing reports, was a window. Kind of like the one in the testing chamber back at the Academy. Behind it was just a small, empty room, about the size of a classroom. In the middle was a bunch of wires attached to the ceiling and a strange helmet, probably used for testing on the brain.
"I got it," Tyler said from across the room. We all looked up from the documents, desks, and windows we were looking at to see what he meant. "I've hacked into the data terminals. I can read you guys word for word what went on down here. So take a seat, grab your popcorn, 'cause there's a new feature presentation coming to a theater near you, and it's called 'Story Time With Tyler.'"
"Here goes nothing," I said as I pulled over an office chair and laid back in it.
Khmm hmm hummm hmmm. Tyler thematically cleared his throat. "Data Entry Log One. We are currently starting a new project for the new year. It involves an innovative way to synthesize..." Tyler's voice trailed off as if he was shocked about what he read. "human beings with a level six rank of Neuropsionic powers. Data Entry Log Three. The project is going unexpectedly well. We are making progress twice, no, three times as fast as we expected. Although, we are currently still working on synthesizing the body. The hard part'll be the brain. Those Neuropsionists. Their brains are so complex. Data Entry Log 12. The brain of this synthesized human is almost done. I think I'll only have to pull a few all-nighters to get it done. Maybe by the end of this week, we'll have our first synthesized Neuropsionist! Data Entry Log 23. We did it! I don't know how, but we did it! The higher-ups are dishing out promotions and raises like crazy. The synthesized human operates and talks just like a normal human! There are a few problems with speech, but we'll work out the kinks in the next one we make. Our subject has immense telepathic strength! He's grown so well. One time, he got angry and actually wiped out every man in the room! Data Entry Log 39. I'm working out the paperwork right now to get permission to start mass production of these insanely powerful Neuropsionists. This'll be great for both the Academy and me! They get free people for their job, and we're over here making 80 dollars an hour! Just one more thing we have to do before we move on. We gotta wipe his memory and give him a name, and I think I have the perfect one. How about 'Leo'."
