I slammed my foot into his ribs and he skidded across the ground. "Hey!" Jess yelled. "Don't kick on a body while I'm working on it!"
I ignored Jess and yelled at the worker. "What are the coordinates to the weapon?"
"Hahahah!" The worker laughed. "You think I would tell you them? Ohhh that is priceless." I kicked him again.
"That's fine. You have 24 ribs after all, use them wisely." I threatened.
"39.0392° N, 125.7625° E." He coughed, spitting blood on the ground.
"Don't you think you were a little extreme there?" Eliana asked.
"Sorry. I just don't know what this weapon we're talking about here even does. I definitely don't wanna find out, either. Heal this guy and lets get on the road. I'll be in the back of the buggy hen you're ready to go." I said, pointing to the buggy. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Jess healing the worker, although she was scowling at him the entire time. I laid down in the back and thought to myself. Then the thought crossed my mind. What was the liquid in the river, and more importantly, what did it do?
...
"Yo, Kale. We're close." Tyler's voice came from the front of the buggy. He was eating around five bags of airplane pretzels while driving. He offered me a bag and I took it thankfully. I didn't realize I had fallen asleep in the back of the buggy when I came to chill out. As soon as I just started to ponder this, the buggy stopped in its tracks, making me slide to the front of the trunk and slam my side into the wall.
"Uggghhh." I groaned. "You better have a good reason for this..." My voice trailed off as I looked into the distance. There was a large ring of metal protruding from the dunes, with a large tower on each side, north, west, east, and south. But the ring and the towers wasn't what I was looking at. What I was looking at was the colossal ground to air gun that stood nearly 20 stories tall. The first ten stories were covered by a large rectangular base cover, but the next ten were just two poles, defying structural integrity. They appeared to be made out of an ultra strong metal and they connected at the top. I figured that was where the behemoth fired from.
All of our eyes collectively grew in size. It was a miracle no government satellite or adventurer found it. But the more important thing we were thinking was: what did it do? I mean, it was obviously a weapon, but what was it designed to kill? Enemies? If that was true, why did the school want to get rid of it? Was it just designed to kill? And we still hadn't even found out what powered the dang thing.
"Okay, so now that we're here, how the heck are we gonna get inside? Those towers are obviously to keep us out, not in." Tyler asked, munching down the last bag of airplane pretzels that he had probably discovered in the glove compartment.
"I dunno. Will? Can you scan anything from here? I don't think we can get any closer for fear of them seeing us." I asked.
"Negatory on the scanning, amigo. Too far away, and what I can scan isn't very descriptive. Most of the base is very similar to the rest, being mostly comprised of heavy metals like titanium and resembling a maze as far as hallways and rooms are considered. It's a miracle the people who actually work there can find their way around." Will answered.
"Wait." Eliana started, "Can't Jess just heal us constantly as we charge in there? We'd be completely invincible, right?"
'Sure. That would work. If your goal was to disintegrate her brain. The stress of healing about five other people constantly would kill her in the blink of an eye.' Leo stated. We all just sat in silence in the one hundred degree weather sweating and thinking. Then, I had an idea.
"Hold on. We're in a desert, right?" I thought out loud.
"Noooo. I'm pretty sure we're in the Amazon, right?" Tyler said sarcastically. "Duh, we're in a desert!"
"I know, that was a little dumb. But in deserts, high winds sometimes occur, which cause gusts of wind with sand in them." I said.
"We all passed that seven week geography class back at the Academy, Kale. We're not dumb." Claudia said, crossing her arms.
"Well if a certain someone-" I nudged Claudia while saying this, "with telekinetic powers could kick up a good dust storm," I planned.
"Then I could disguise us as a gust of wind, and as long as we run fast enough when we're disguised by the sand then they wont notice a thing!" Claudia finished my sentence. That's right. We just found a way inside the facility.
