"You sure this is a good idea?" I frowned with uncertainty, as I glanced at the boy who stood looking up with the same expression as I had.

He broke his gaze and met my eyes again with his brown ones nodding, "Yeah why not huh? Not scared are you?"

"Me no, well maybe a little but you don't seem sure either," I shrugged honestly, no point in lying right?

These things are scary ok?

"Well maybe a bit but that's only because of the height! I mean have you seen it!" He shrieked a little.

"Yeah I've seen it, kinda making me feel queasy now,"

But of course we had to finally admit to ourselves that we were in fact, scared shitless of roller coasters as we had pretty much arrived at the front of the queue for loading the carts.

"You'll hold my hand the entire time right?" My voice shook slightly as I started freaking out again.

"I promise I will if you'll hold mine," he smiled back holding his hand out as the operator closed the bars.

~

He kept his promise, never letting go or loosening his grip the whole way round.

In fact I'm pretty sure he clung harder to my hand than I did his as we climbed the steep track before the big stomach churning drop.

But I'll keep that thought to myself.

"I'll hand it to you Dyl, that was crazy," I laughed we sat on a bench outside the major rollarcoaster zone, while we collected ourselves and came down from the high rush of adrenaline.

"That was awful, I'm never doing that again. I'm writing this off as the worst idea I've ever had," he groaned, "Me and heights are a no go,"

"I'll remember that," I chuckled reaching into the bag for the bottle of water I'd just bought after exiting the ride while Dylan sat down trying to stop everything spinning, "Here,"

"Thanks,"

Five minutes later and apparently completely recovered from the 'most traumatic moment of his life' Dylan was up on his feet and dragging me towards a candy floss stand and ordering one large pink stick and a large blue one.

Sometimes I could swear to the heavens and back that Dylan O'Brien genuinely a five year old boy trapped in this over sized huge dorky man's body.

"Don't you think?" Dylan's voice snapped my attention back to him and I giggled reaching out to get a small bit of candy floss off his nose.

"Oops messy me, but no, seriously don't you agree?" He grinned widely showing his perfect teeth.

See a giant oversized child?

"With what?" I smiled back at him, trying to refrain myself from getting lost in his beauty.

Why is he even here with me anyway? I'm just ordinary Lola.

"That this is the best spontaneous friendship ever?" He chuckled lightly, "I first spoke to you when we were eleven maybe twelve?"

"When I was a complete and utter loner oh god," I buried my face in my hands mortified by the memory.

"Maybe it was the glasses," he joked, and I shoved him off the bench sulking.

Looking back at Dylan, who was clearly awaiting my response, as he climbed back onto the bench, I smiled as I thought back over the past years.

The day he first approached me in the lunch hall and the time after, then every day since where we would talk about anything and everything.

Our endless study sessions in the library after school during our first big exams at school. We'd turned fourteen over the summer and were terrified of what we were to expect from them to be honest.

My walk with Dylan to get lunch during my first day at the traineeship with his mom at the hospital and our long talks about where we thought our futures were heading. We were only seventeen at the time and I was just a midwifes assistant but for me it was big stuff.

Our stupid classes we shared when he would pelt paper balls at the back of my head relentlessly and I'd use every ounce of strength and willpower I had to not turn around and bite his head off.

The day he promised me I was stuck with him forever after he found me sat reading underneath the tree, his friends had been waiting over by the gates but he made time for me and made the promise anyway.

Then he kept the promise, and we worked on our music assignment he next day. He even bought along his friend Tyler and introduced me to him. It was then, that I knew I was stuck with Dylan O'Brien for life and i was totally ok with that.

The party I tagged along to where I encouraged Tyler to make a move on a girl he fancied, babysat a drunken Cody and played dares with Daniel and aforementioned drunken Cody.

The story telling adventure I shared with him when he added to my cover of doodles in English literature and then I told him all the stories behind my existing art work. Which then led to him coming over to my house to see all of my work.

Then going to the local pancake diner that we love now and have yet to visit again.

So smiling I gave him my honest answer, "Yeah it is," I smiled warmly, "The bestest friendship that could of ever been,"

"She really is grateful for him and the impact he made on her life isn't she?"

"She is," I nodded, remembering the day we reminisced on out friendship after that day dreadful rollercoaster.

"Hey Lola?" Dylan looked at me with careful scrutiny.

"Yeah?"

"They were like eighteen when they were being nostalgic right?" He continued when I nodded, "How old are they now? Are they still best friends or are they together?"

"They're both 25 now and- well it's complicated,"

"Complicated how?" He frowned, not understanding but that was ok, he didn't know.

"They were a couple, but life has a way of complicating things. She loves him, but he's- well he's just a little lost,"

"Lost?" Dylan raised an eyebrow, trying to figure out what I meant.

"Yeah, he's having a few problems I guess and he needs a little time,"

"Oh," Dylan sat silent for a moment, "I hope he figures everything out, I want them to be together again,"

"Me too hon, me too,"
