This time around, I didn't sleep at all. I was thinking of a way to do this without traumatizing those children. I did want her dead, I just didn't want to hurt any of them. I decided that I was going to pretend to come visit them all, make dinner for them, then poison Grelod's food. That way she would die in her sleep and not in front of the children.
The whole ride to Riften I was just anticipating the final events. I wanted to save these children from that witch. All she does is hurt people, where did that nickname come from? " Grelod the kind."? Was it suppose to be Ironic, that's the only way it would be fitting.
When we arrived outside the city's gates, my legs got a little numb. My body felt weird. It seemed like my body was refusing to go inside, but my mind wanted nothing more. I got jumped out the back of the cart, and waved a "thanks" to my usher.
" Corrina your back! Ya know, there's a tax now to get into the city." A familiar voice of one of my favorite guards said to me. I got into trouble a lot, so I got to know the guards fairly well.
" Ha, nice try Ulren." I joke with him.
" Damn, maybe next time! It's good to see you. What are you doing back in town?" He asked me.
" Just visiting the kids, I miss those rugrats." I say to him trying to sound as routine as possible.
" Ok, well head inside. And keep your eyes out for thieves. We've had an outbreak of pickpockets." He informs me.
" Will do, see you around Ulren." I wave him goodbye as I walk into the city.
Ah, it's like returning home. Riften has always had my favorite type of weather. Misty and mysterious. I wasn't worried about thefts. I was one of the kids that started the pickpocket trend. I was actually infamous for it. The little kids around town would call me "Lady Lift". Maybe I could do a few fishing jobs while i'm here.
Before I get to ahead of myself I need to purchase some posin. I knew a dealer that lives below the city. The docks is where all the shifty transactions went on. I made my way down a ramp that led to the levee.
Yup, there he was. Dangling his feet off the side and sitting there waiting for someone to need something a little "extra". I went over to him and put my hood up.
" Hey you still doing business down here?" I ask him trying to make my voice sound intimidating.
" Oh you betcha. Best dealer in town, what do you need? Skumma? Moon Sugar?" He asks me, he didn't even have to try and look scary.
" No, nothing like that. I need some...rat poison." I tell him
" Ah yes, "Rat" Poison. I got what you need." He chuckles and takes a bottle out of his satchel. Before I can take it, he puts his other hand out. He wants the money.
I drop a coin bag in his hands and he laughs while handing me the poison.
" Hope those "rats" don't give ya any trouble. Hehe." He says to me while I walk away.
Ok now that we got that settled, I need to go to Honor hall. I have to convince Grelod that i'm here because I want to repay her for doing so much for me. I walk back up the ramp and onto the main level of the city's grounds. I walk past the marketplace and see that there are some new faces, they'll be easy to "borrow" from. I laugh a bit at the thought of it.
Ok so there it was, Honor hall. That retched place that I spent so long dreaming about escaping. Now i'm here, hoping I can get in without raising any eyebrows.
