Cicero POV
There she is. The one Cicero thought Mother brought just for him. But no! She is here for mother. Corrina is the one that gets to hear mother. Jealousy is such a pitiful emotion Hehehe, but Cicero can't help but feel it burn within him.
She is here again to speak with mother. She hasn't seen silent Cicero. Noooo to sly for her. Ha! I will stay in the shadows and watch to see if she respects mother as much as her dear servant.
" Mother" She cries out to our matron.
A response doesn't seem to be given, by the egaerness in her eyes I see she is being ignored.
" Dear Matron, I request to speak with you once more." She whispers again.
She looks disappointed, like she hears nothing once more.
" Mother I am sorry about my delayed response to your command but I was ordered not to go." She says again taking a step closer to our lady's body and hangs her head down in shame.
She seems a bit angry now. Like our mother refuses to talk back to her. This seems all too familiar for Cicero's liking. For the slightest moment I wonder...could she be lying about being the listener?
" Now, how can I know what to do if you will not speak to me?" She pleads.
Cicero has said the same things to our mother countless times. Although I know better, Mother will speak to Corrina. She did in fact know the sacred words.
" Fine, You will speak when you have something to say." She says acting upset and crossing her arms and starts to exit.
Until she stops. She turns around with a smile.
" Ah Mother, now we can finally speak." She says to Mother with a curtsy.
Mother has spoken Hehehe! But what is it like? I so desperately want to hear how she speaks and how her voice carries. Is it soft, raspy, old, young...who could know but The Listener?
...
" Well all of this is just so...confusing. I don't really understand. I respect your decision to make me Listener, I just feel...unworthy." She says being a little vulnerable. Cicero does feel guilty for thinking the same thing.
...
A longer time passes and I see Corrina's face grow a bit bashful, like she was being given a tongue lashing.
" I'm sorry for being ignorant mother...but what of Amund. Shall I go and betray the orders from Astrid?" She says finally.
Of course she should listen to the Night Mother's orders! It is her job, as is mine to keep mother safe. Her's is to do what the mother see's fit. Hehe...the only job that, truly matters.
... another silence that makes Cicero grow eager to hear what she says.
" Of course. Rest well Mother. I will set off for Valundrune in the morning....OH! One more thing, do you know what is happening with Cicero?" She blurts out.
Cicero? What has happened to me? Why should she care? I have been awful to her, more than once. This time though...it was the worst. I hurt her so badly she couldn't even stay awake long enough to be mad at stupid Cicero. AH Stupid Cicero!
