Rose's POV

I felt terrible for not responding to his I love you. He wanted me to stop self harm but I can't just stop. Unless I'm going to fix cars twenty-four seven I can't stop self harm. It's my outlet.

Tears were running down my cheek as he sat next to me.

"Ashton?" I said about two minutes later.

"Hmmm?" He said looking at me and I saw the pain in his eyes.

I was about to say I can't stop self harm but I stopped myself.

"Thank you." I said quietly.

"For what?" He said looking at me still.

"Caring." That's all I said. One word. Caring. Because that's what he did, he cared.

"I better go before anyone gets suspicious." I said getting up. I heard him slightly say goodbye but that was it.

Then I went into the bathroom to see how much of a mess I was. I was a hot mess. Mascara all down my cheek and my eyes were puffy. I'm surprised Ashton didn't run away screaming in terror.

I hate this stress. It's my second day of my senior year and I've been to the hospital, I've cried and I was kissed by my best guy friend. What's going on with me?

Then I heard someone come in the bathroom. It was Britney. Of course just my luck.

"Oh look what the cat dragged in." She said when she saw me and she obviously saw that I was a wreck.

"Britney leave me alone. I don't feel like fighting." I said and started to walk out the door but she grabbed my arm.

"I need to talk to you." She said making her grip tighter.

"What do you want?" I hissed at her. I was already stressed, I didn't need to be pissed off.

"About... Mr. Smith and you. You guys seem to have some chemistry." She said looking at me.

"No we don't." I said quickly, trying to get out of her grip.

"Yes you do. You two almost kissed in the hall." She said sending laser beam looks at me.

"That was a mistake. Now if you could let me go-"

"No you wanted to kiss him. Leave him alone." She said loudly.

"Okay I will. I won't talk to him anymore. Now let me go." I said gritting my teeth.

"Promise? Because if I ever see you with him, it's the end for you." She threatened.

"Okay I promise." I said and she let me go.

"Good." She said. Then I ran out of the bathroom.

I walked into class.

"That took longer than it should've, Ms. Tyler." My teacher said as I walked in.

"I'm sorry it won't happen again." I reassured him as I put on my jacket I left in the classroom.

"You're right, it won't. That's why I'm giving you a after-school detention." He said.

I was flabbergasted.

"After-school detention? With all due respect sir, this is the first time I've got in trouble." I said looking at him. The whole class's eyes were on me.

"You need to learn your lesson." He said as he handed me the slip of paper.

"Okay sir." I said and took the paper. Looks like I'll be staying after school.

Ashton's POV

I was walking around the school on 'security'. Yeah I know weird. I only did it for the first period though.

Then I heard footsteps in the hallway. It was the boy that kissed Rose this morning.

"Shouldn't you be in class?" I said looking at him.

"Sorry sir I'm going to go use the restroom." He said, showing me his hall pass.

"Oh ok, but the bathroom is that way." I pointed. He was going the complete opposite way.

"Oh yea... Oops." He said laughing slightly and I raised my eyebrow. There's something up with that kid. Then he walked in the right direction and I walked away.

I don't trust him...

He seems suspicious.
