THE figure didn't look up from his intense focus on whatever was swimming in the water.
jimin moved forward, stepping out of his hiding place in the tall grass. the small boy was definitely the grim reaper he'd been holding hands with moments before.
every step jimin took was like walking on the room. he didn't feel like gravity had a hold on his body, yet he stayed firmly planted on the earth.
his steps towards the lake were timid.
yoongi hadn't noticed the approaching boy and made no move away from the damp turf he was standing on.
it got to the point were jimin was only feet away from the other boy and was just staring at him. confusion took over his thoughts as they went blank. he couldn't understand what was going on, where he was, or why min yoongi was a child, splashing his small hands in the water.
he watched the giggling boy try to poke at the fish swimming around before laughing uncontrollably at the small frog that leaped atop his head.
jimin smiled at the sight, feeling adoration swarm through his veins. the boy had chubbier cheeks than currently, his eyes almost being swallowed by them. his arms were pudgier than they were now, and when the boy stood, holding the frog in his hands, he wobbled a bit.
jimin was reminded of when he was younger, wondering if onlookers saw him they way jimin saw yoongi currently.
"frogie," yoongi sang, spinning around with the animal firmly sat in his palms. his speech was drawled out and sounding like he said 'fwogie' instead.
jimin held his giggle behind his palm. yoongi was such a cute kid. he couldn't imagine this child being the grim reaper.
but he wasn't at the moment.
yoongi was just that; a kid. he was mortal, and the knowledge came to jimin as if it were something he should've known all along.
the thought of how yoongi transitioned from boy to creature plagued his thoughts and the infestation grew.
his giggling died down when he saw yoongi staring at him with an unnerving look.
"can you see me?" jimin asked hesitantly, only moving one foot forward.
"mommy says not to talk to strangers." his voice was controlled, the opposite of jimin's.
he was about to speak again when another voice sounded from behind him, making his head whip in the direction it from.
"but i'm no stranger yoongi-bug," the unfamiliar male used a nickname, "you've seen me in your dreams. we're friends."
he looked untrustworthy.
"i think the fuck not." jimin spat, upset at the fact that he was still unseen.
"where's you mom, kid?" the man asked. jimin was upset that the figure was hooded and masked. he wondered how such a sweet child like yoongi could trust him. but then again, jimin trusts the grim reaper, so he has no room to judge.
"with papa." he pointed a chubby finger to a small, cozy cottage at the end of a pathway.
the scene changed.
jimin was in a kitchen area. the small window above the sink had the curtains pulled back, enabling him to see yoongi playing by the pond again. he was back to splashing and hoping around with the frogs.
"i told you," the voice of a woman rang in jimin's ears. he looked away from the window and was welcomed by the sight of three figures. "i can't keep doing this." her voice was firm and determined, but she looked worn down and tired.
