Chapter 12

Ch 12 - My Hero

When I wake up, I am lying on the porch at Jenna's house. Jenna sees me start to move and jumps out of the porch swing really quick.

"Oh my gosh, Faith, are you okay?" She asks.

"Yeah totally," I say sarcastically "I only almost DIED, but whatever."

"Oh.....sorry."

"How long was I out?"

"Well, only about twenty minutes."

"Okay....So what all happened after, you know, I was almost murdered?!?!!" She laughed a little. "This is not a laughing matter Jenna! I could be dead right now!"

"Sorry. Well, after you got pushed into the pool and got held under, everyone started yelling and cussing at Emily, telling her to stop because she's gone to far. Then Emily got a big group of guys to block the crowd from trying to help you. I don't see why people listen to her but anyways, you know the guy that tried to help you, but then got beat up by three guys?"

"Yeah, and he beat up the other guys right back." I smiled, even just thinking about Reed. It made he happy knowing he tried to help.

"Yeah whatever, well, he finally got up and yelled at Emily to stop because you had stopped moving. Then he ran up to her. The guys let him passed and I don't know why, I guess they realized that she is freakin insane....but anyways....He grabbed her and pulled her back, making her let go of you. When he looked back and saw you were sinking, he jumped in and got you out. Then, a guy jumped out of the crowd saying he was a lifeguard. I didn't believe it but whatever. He put his hand on your chest and started, like pumping it, I think it was CPR or something. I don't know, but you started breathing after the first few pumps. Your eyes opened for a second, then you were out again.

"So I was awake for only a split second?"

"Yeah."

"Wow. What happened after that?"

"Kaitlyn, and Ashley, and I rushed over to you. The guy that jumped in and saved you carried you here, and just left a couple minutes before you woke up. He said he was coming back, he just needed to get out of his wet clothes. Everyone else said they had to go home but to call them when you woke up. So, that's what I'm gonna do."

"Okay...Well, thanks for helping me and everything, but I'm gonna leave now."

"But that guy said he was coming back."

"Well, just tell him I left and I'm fine. Okay?"

"'Kay talk to you later, bye."

"Bye." I stood up and started to walk away.

" Wait! Faith!" Jenna ran up to me, "This fell out of your pocket when you fell, you know, before you got pushed in. I'm surprised it's not broken." she handed me my iPhone.

"Thanks, good thing for this protective case." I said, kind of laughing, then started back on my way home.

I looked see what time it was and realized it was only 8:30. Now I can't go back home. I was supposed to stay at Ashley's house until midnight after the party, but now I guess not. That party must have been over quick. The rest of my family went out to see some little kid movie, and said they wouldn't be back until around 10:30. And since they thought they would be home before me, they told me that I didn't need to bring keys. Smart.

So, I decided to go to the woods in between my house and Reed's, where we went the first day we met. I went further in than before until I found a creek. I know it's like 80 degrees right now, but with the wind blowing, it makes it really cold. It might just be because I'm still wet from the pool.

I thought about walking around, but then see a big rock a couple yards over and go and sit down. It's 9:00 now and I'm really tired. I decide to shut my eyes, and the next thing I know, I hear footsteps.

I sat up really fast. Is it Emily coming back to kill me this time? No! It's not her, stop thinking like that, I thought to myself. It might be an animal. Now I'm getting kind if scared. Then I think there's not a difference between the two, and I laugh to myself. The sound fades away and I lay back down, staring at the stars.
