Chapter 10

Ch. 10 - The Party

"Are you ready to go?" Jenna asked me.

"Almost," I replied.

"Hurry! We are supposed to meet Kaitlyn and Ashley on the corner in two minutes.

"Alright, I'm done. Let's go." After we met with Kaitlyn and Ashley, we went together to the party.

It looked like the whole high school was there, so the kid that's throwing it must be extremely popular. There was an announcement that said dinner would be there at 8:00, and until then, go to the snack bar and do whatever.

All of my friends and I just sat down and talked. After about thirty minutes we went to go get something to drink. After that we went and sat back down. This is so interesting so far...

"So," Ashley said, " Should we talk about.....boys?" she smiled as she said it.

"Yes," Kaitlyn said. Everyone else agreed. I mean, c'mon, we're fifteen year old girls, of course we want to talk about boys.

"Who has seen at least one of there crushes here?" Ashley asked. Everyone one said I have, but me.

"C'mon, Faith, you have to have a crush, don't lie," Jenna said.

"She just moved here, she might not have one yet," Kaitlyn said.

"I never said I didn't, I just haven't seen him here." I said.

"Really, I wonder if he's here, let's go look!" Kaitlyn sounds full of excitement.

"Ooooo maybe he's outside," Jenna smiled.

"Yeah," Kaitlyn agreed, " We should go look."

"Wait, who is your crush?" everyone asked at the same time, which kind of freaked me out.

"A person," I told them.

"Oh c'mon, be more specific," Jenna said.

"Fine, a boy."

"No way!" Kaitlyn said laughing.

"Hey uh....let's go somewhere else," Ashley suggested.

"Why?" I asked. Then, Ashley pointed behind me. We all turned around and saw Emily staring at me. We all quickly went outside.

"Hey look!" Kaitlyn said, "There are some people over there, and ooooo a pool." We all decided to go over there, even though it was crowded. I got lucky that everyone forgot about my crush and started talking about some project Jenna and Ashley are doing.

"Yeah, it's crazy! How does he expect us to do something like that by Tuesday!??!?!" Ashley said, sounding annoyed.

"I know right!" Jenna replied, "It will take at least a week to do. He thinks we can do it in four days!!?"

"But it's the weekend, I bet most people aren't even gonna start until Monday night," I said.

"Yeah, that sucks. Oh well, this is a party, let's have fun!" Kaitlyn said, obviously trying to change the subject.

At about 7:00, we all got hungry and went over to the snack bar.

"By the time dinner gets here, no one is gonna be hungry," Jenna said, "This is more like a buffet, not snack table." But,she grabbed a little bit of everything anyways. We all laughed, got plates, and did the same thing.

After we were all done with our "snacks" we all went back outside.

"Hey!" Kaitlyn said, "Now there are people up on the balcony. We should go!"

"Nah, I'm fine," everyone said at the same time....again. Then went into a jinx war. After that nonsense, I saw someone get hit in the head with something. When I looked up, there we're two guys throwing ice at people from the balcony. Then I looked over and my heart stopped.

On the opposite side of the balcony was Reed. I kept talking to my friends but still looked up there every once in a while to see if he had noticed me. Then I thought, why would he like me. And if he has seen me, he's probably thinking, oh I know her. Just like he would say about any other girl. Then, the other night came into my head, and I started questioning myself again. Oh well. I just need to get my mind off of it.

I looked up again and then looked away quickly. Stop it, I thought. Then, looked up again because I just couldn't help it, and saw Reed looking at me. He smiled and a smiled back. He motioned for me to come up there, so I turned around to tell my friends.

Apparently, I was hypnotized by Reed or something because when I turned around, Jenna was staring at me yelling,

"C'mon, she's coming, are you deaf? Do you want her to embarrass you again?"

"Huh?" I looked over and saw Emily coming straight toward me. What the heck is wrong with her??!??!

"I thought I told you to stay away from me," she said it like she ruled the world or something.

"Um.. I don't know what planet your from, but your the one that won't stay away from me," I snapped back at her.

"Um, I don't think so, you heard I was coming so you thought, let's go annoy Emily." Now she is really making me mad. She's putting words in my mouth. I don't care anymore, I'm ready to tell her off.....I thought. I'm not good with things like this so....

"No, I was invited here just like everyone else, so back off!" I yelled. I didn't mean to though, I was trying to stay calm but whatever.

"Just leave now, and everything will be fine, okay? Now go!" she demanded.

"I can stay here if I want. You can't control me!"

"I said leave, so you better leave or you'll regret it!" she said. I looked up at Reed. He was the only person paying attention besides my friends and Emily's friends. I saw a look on his face that I have never seen before. Anger. He started leaving the balcony, but kept getting stuck in the crowd. Next thing I knew I was being shoved. I heard my friends yelling at her telling her to stop, but when they tried to help me, her friends wouldn't let them.

"Awe, are you too scared to fight back? The poor widdle baby," she started talking to me like I was a little kid. Then, I shoved her back.

"Stop! Just stop!" I screamed, "Why are you acting like this? You tell me to stay away, and that's what I'm trying to do. You're the one that's coming to me! Just stop acting so crazy! What's your problem?!"

"What do you mean? You're the idiot, you're not staying away! You're acting like you don't know what I'm talking about!" she said it so loudly, everyone started staring.

My heart started pounding, and it suddenly got really hot. I could feel my face getting red. I don't know if it's from anger or embarrassment. Probably both. I just kind of stood there for a second, thinking. I honestly don't know what the heck she is talking about.

I'm not the kind of girl that gets in fights, that's just not me. What's wrong with me? I feel like I should just walk away....but I don't want to. Just when I'm about to start fighting back again, I hear my friends telling me to stop. I don't want to, I want to make Emily wish she never messed with me. I ignore them and Emily and I start walking up to each other.

"What are you gonna do? Huh? C'mon, I can take it," she whispers to me. Just as I'm opening my mouth, my friends pull me back.

"That's it!" Emily yells. "Get her friends too." I see a bunch of guys running towards us. They grab my friends and pull them to the side, holding them so tight they couldn't get away. I look up and see Emily laughing as someone pushes me over to her. It's like she has a freaking army. Why is no one helping? Why are they just staring? I swear these people are insane. This isn't normal.

I see Reed finally step out of the crowd. When he sees what's happening, he yells,

"Stop!" Then three guys walk over to him, and one puts him in a head lock and the other two start punching him. People start laughing. I can tell there are some people that want to help now, but everyone seems like they are to afraid to do anything. Reed starts to fight back, but it's three against one. I want to try to help him so bad, but I know if I do, more people will get hurt. There's nothing I can do, and I hate it. I hate her. And I hate it here.
