*8 months later*
''i don't think i can take this anymore!'' i burst out while lugging around in the living room.
''ali, you're stronger than this and look, you've already seven months into it.'' aria butts in, trying to cheer me up.
i give her a death glare. ''not the pregnancy aria! i'm talking about emily. she's been away for almost three weeks and who the hell knows what she's doing in that stupid country?''
''relax. i know how you feel.'' she sympathizes with my inner pain.
i put up my legs on the couch and cross them. ''what do you mean?''
''spencer's there too you know. god i miss her so much!'' she groans.
''aria..we never really had the chance to discuss your feelings for spence since she interrupted us in the depot--''
''i don't wanna talk about it!''
''come on. i'm your best friend! and i told you about emily!'' i defend my curiosity.
she sighs. ''fine..'' she takes a deep breath and begins. ''awhile ago, when that mona chick started to be really clingy on her i felt a responsibility to stand up for my friend and help her with situations like that one. but even though i stepped in with a friendly intention i could still feel how my body started to shake every time she touched me, how my hands got all sweaty every time she looked at me and how my heart broke every time she spoke to another girl. it didn't feel right to let her flirt with other people and i didn't know why. until that day in the depot when you asked me if i have..feelings for my best friend. and yes, i do. but i can't let her know that yet.''
the biggest smile crawl it's way to my lips. ''oh my god i knew it! you're so down for her!''
she hushes me. ''not so loud ali!''
''they're not here, smartass. they can't hear us in stockholm!'' i mock in a joking way before getting up to grab a glas of water from the kitchen.
she follows me and jumps up on the counter. ''i know, but for some reason i'm scared to say it out loud.''
''it's okay, i know how you feel. only my closest friends know about emily and i. i don't have the courage to say it out loud either.'' i admit before taking a sip.
she furrows her eyebrows. ''but..you and emily are having a kid. isn't it time for you to get official?''
i sigh. ''yeah, but it's not that easy since emily's an official person. it'll be a lot of unnecessary talk if the speedway media finds out.''
''the speedway media can't be that big, right?''
i tilt my head to the side. ''did you not see the arena on tv last night? they said it was over sixty thousand people there plus fans on the outside, workers and paparazzis.''
she gulps nervously. ''that's a lot.''
''no shit sherlock?'' i roll my eyes, earning a small chuckle from her.
''so..when do they get back to new york?'' she changes the subject.
i turn around and start doing the dishes. ''emily called last night telling me they'll be back tomorrow afternoon.''
''tomorrow?!'' she exclaims, causing me to drop my plate into the water.
''jesus aria, get yourself together!''
she clears her throat. ''sorry. are you not excited to see them again?''
''of course i am.'' i mumble.
