No it can't be him. I'm dreaming. This isn't reality. I thought to myself as I see a decently dressed man with brown wavy hair standing at the bottom of the stairs staring at me.
"ALESSSKKAAAA" he says, extending his arms towards me.
I'm shook. How did my drug-addicted brother become this man?
"Alex? Is it really you?" At this point, i don't know how to feel anymore. I'm pissed at him for leaving but at the same time, I'm so happy to see him.
"Yea!! Don't you miss me? Come here lil one"
I run down the stairs to Alex, almost tripping but who cares? He's finally home. I hug him real tight. He's grown a little bit of muscle and I'm happy for him.
"So how's my little baby sister doing? What grade are you in school already?"
"Erm... about that. I'm homeschooled now"
He looks at me like I've just killed someone.
"Why??? You were doing so good! I remember you were a math prodigy, an honor student."
"Yea....." I say awkwardly, fiddling with my fingers.
"YO ALASKA CHECK THIS OUT THEY M-"
Tanner stands on top of the stairs, stops mid sentence and awkwardly stands there, smiling at the both of us.
"Alaska, who's this guy?" He stands in front of me, his body covering me, like a protective shield. Face fiercely looking at Tanner. Here comes the overprotective side that Alex has.
"Relax Alex. He's my boyfriend." I say blushing.
"Hi. Nice to meet you. I'm Tanner" he walks towards Alex to shake his hand but Alex just looks at him blankly.
"You have a boyfriend now??? Alaska you're only what? 16? How can you have one?" He turns back and grabs my shoulders, like he's giving me a pep talk.
"May I remind you that my birthday is less than a month away, I'm almost 17 now Alex"
"Okay fine. But I'm watching you" he does this eye to eye thingy to me and goes up the stairs.
"Is my room still there?"
"Tanner's sleeping there"
"ARGHH HE TAKES YOU AWAY FROM ME AND NOW HES LIVING IN MY ROOM. WOW."
"Well I guess you'll stay in my bedroom then."
"But your mo-"
"I'll talk to her."

"So what were you trying to tell me just now?" I ask Tanner, he's on his phone sitting at the couch in the living room while I'm preparing dinner. I asked my mom about the room situation. Surprisingly, she was cool with it.
"Oh that. A fan made an AMAAZZZING edit of us. I'll share it to you" I hear my phone go off a couple of seconds later.
I got startled by the doorbell. I'm just too focused on the presentation of this fine spaghetti I made.
I open the door to see a screaming Rachel.
"WHATSUUPPPPPP BIATCH!!! I MISS YOU SOOOO MUCH" she pulls me into a big bear hug. Typical Rachel.
"Rachel you scared me. I miss you SOO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA. COME IN!!"
"Yo Tanner" she walks in to greet him.
"Hey. You're Rachel right?"
"Yeaoopppp the one and only" she does this fabulous hand gesture to him.

Someway somehow we get to all sit at the family table to have our dinner. No shouting at Alex or my dad roasting Tanner or Rachel being super loud. Rachel was shook too when she found out that Alex came home.
"I heard about you kid" Alex says to Tanner.
"You're that scooter riding kid on YouTube"
"Mmhmmm"
"Hurt my baby sister's feelings..." Alex starts to crack his knuckles. ".... you'll know what happens next"
Tanner gives out a little funny noise. I can sense his awkwardness and he's feeling uncomfortable.
"So Alex why did you come back?" I say trying to change the subject.
Mom and dad look at me when I said that.
"To see my baby sister of course"
"I'm serious Alex"
Everyone is silent now. Eyes all fixed on Alex.
"Well fine if you guys want to know about me sooooo much. Here's the truth, I made my girlfriend pregnant and now I'm trying to change myself for better or for worse."
Well oh my lord. No one saw that coming.
