* Tanner *
That night

I'm almost done editing my video for today. I'm still wondering who this Alex guy is though. Alaska needs some explaining to do. I cannot take the suspense like WHO IS THIS PERSON?

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.

"Hi Tanner, sorry to bother you but dinner is ready."

"Oh yea sure. I'll be down. Thanks Mary."

"You're welcome. Can you call Alaska too? She doesn't want me to bother her but I'm pretty sure she listens to you"

I give her a nod and make my way to Alaska's room, the room across from mine.

"Babe?" I knock on her door. I try to open it but it's locked.

I can hear shuffling on the floor. I can imagine her getting up from her bed in her cute pajamas and messy hair. She opens the door for me. Her face... A literal mess but I still think she looks cute. She's sniffling.

"Can I come in?"

She opens the door wide enough for me to go in. We both move to sit on her bed. She slams face first on her bed.

"Anything you want to talk about?" I ask, rubbing her back. I can feel her shivering, trying to not to cry.

"Babe... Just let it out. It's okay"

She got up, looks at me straight in the eye. Her eyes red and puffy.

"I'm having sinus."

"Come on Alaska. I know you're not having a sinus." Now I'm hugging her. Wrapping my arms around her waist with her back leaning against me and my face on her shoulder.

"You know I heard some just now"

She looks at me with a 'gurl-what-did-you-just-do face'

"I promise I won't eavesdrop again if you tell me what's going on"

"Alex's my brother...." She starts to talk in between sniffs.

Oh so Alex is her brother.

"He got into the wrong group and left just like that"

I just listen and keep on hugging her.

"I was 11 When He LEFT, Tanner" her voice shaky and loud now.

"He was the only person who understood me. And. He. Just. Left. AND NOW GUESS WHAT? He's coming back without a warning. Saying he wanted 'to change'"

Her voice is getting angry now. I try rubbing her back to calm her down.

"But he's coming back. Isn't that good?"

"I don't know whether I should feel happy or pissed at him." She shakes her head and just shrug.

"Do you want to be excuse from dinner?"

"Yes please. Thank you Tanner" she gives me a kiss and I put her in bed and go downstairs to join the rest of the family for dinner.

My heart skips a few beats when I saw Alaska's father sitting at the dining table.

Okay I did not mentally prepare myself for this. I DID NOT.

"H-hi Mr Sawyer, I-I'm Tanner, Alaska's boyfriend." I clear my throat and hold out my hand for him to shake.

He did not shake it.

Alright. Okay.

"Sit down" he looks at me with an emotionless face and gesture to a seat in front of him.

"Alaska's really tired so she won't be joining us tonight."

He nods.

"See I was hoping that a guy like you would make her happy but turns out, you can't"

I was screaming internally. I just sigh and eat the food that's given in front of me.

"Do you smoke?"

"No"

"What are your goals in life"

"To travel the world"

"Do you have a job"

"I'm a youtuber."

"I meant a REAL job. YouTube isn't gonna last forever son"

"No"

Dinner ended just like that. I helped to wash the dishes and went up to my room.

"I don't think I got my first impression right..." I say to myself as I stare deeply into the ceiling above of me.
