I sat down for lunch after gym class. Glob I hate exercise. Devin sat down next to me. For the first time, he didn't start talking.

I thought too soon (TT^TT)

"Do you want to know why I'm really here?" he paused, like he was making sure no one else was listening, "The Magic Council sent me to protect you." he finished.

"What the crap?! Not this shit again," I sighed.

"I'm not joking. You're in danger of being killed if I'm not around."

He wasn't joking. Crap.

"Are you kidding me? That thing has been over for 3 years, how the hell am I still in danger?"

"It's far from over."

"What do you mean? Explain before I punch you. I'm not in the mood for fictitious crap today."

He was taken aback, as if he had never heard my unsatisfied replies before.

"You should be less rude to someone who is keeping you alive."

I didn't respond. I pretended to fall asleep, but in all reality, I was crying as silently as I could.

"You really shouldn't cuss so much."

Devin snuck up on me again. this time I turned around and and punched him in the gut.

"You really shouldn't sneak up on people!" I griped while he coughed and tried to catch his breath.

"I guess I deserved that one..." he drank in the air, still gripping his stomach.

"You sure did," I coldly replied, taking a huge mouthful of MountainDew.

A few moments of sweet, sweet silence passed before he spoke again.

"Why don't you like me?"

I was actually surpized by that question.

"What do you mean?" I replied in sight confusion.

"It means what it means, Isis."

"Why would I like you?"

"Hmm, let's see.... This handsome man with great hair is ordered to protect the princess," this guy is vain. Yet another thing to hate about him, "and he gladly accepts the request. You get the guy of your dreams 24/7! What's there not to like?"

"How incredibly vain you are."

He looked at me strangely.

"Do you not know what sarcasm is?"

I faked a sneeze. "Yup," I sniffled, "I'm allergic to it. Now go away, before I die from it."
