"I'm telling you the truth," his soft hand traces my jawline. "I really love you."
"W-what about Lukas?" His touch is so light and weirdly...feminine. It's so nice.
"Lukas doesn't have to know." He winks with a mischievous grin before kissing me. Mathias is kissing me...My eyes flutter open, the blinding light of day flooding my vision.
"Huh," I sigh, pulling my legs over the side of the bed so I'm sitting on the side. "It was just a dream." With widened eyes, the realisation hits me late. I was dreaming about Mathias?! In a morning mess I stumble over to the wardrobe, quickly dressing myself in uniform before going to get breakfast. It's inevitable that I have to face Lukas today at school. After two mouthfuls of my cereal, I look up at the clock. Half ten?!? I'm so late!My english class seem to think I've run a marathon when I turn up, sweat pouring down my face as I pant like a tired dog in the summer. Through all this I can't even find the breath to explain myself.
"Do not worry," My teacher says. "You're mother explained everything and if it's true what she said...I'm surprised you took the effort to come at all." Though her words come across as kind, she spits them harshly and gestures for me to sit, which I obey. Luckily for me, Emil is not in the English class, mostly because English is his second language and Norwegian is his first so he's never really been good at it. At break, I sit up on a bench on the rooftop, which is rare for me. However, Ella manages to find me either way.
"I have so much to apologise for..." She weakly whispers as she invites herself to sit down beside me.
"And I suppose I have so much to explain?" I question, not even looking at her. The girl next to me...can I call her my best friend anymore? She's a traitor of the highest degree for sure but friend?
"Indeed. Rumours have started to spread."
"As expected." Our conversation barely has a break in between.
"Is it true?"
"Elaborate."
"You were kidnapped." From the corner of my eyes, I notice the two familiar partners on the other side of the roof.
"Perhaps," I answer, getting up to leave but Ella pulls me back down onto the wooden bench.
"That's not an answer." She argues, a scowl beginning to form on her face.
"Well I believe I used it to answer you. I have matters to attend to now so-"
"No!" She calls out, trying to stop me from leaving by taking my wrist once again but I shake it off, screaming for her to get off of me and of course, this creates a scene.
"Don't touch me." I coldly state as I finally earn my freedom to leave. I jog over to the two and they smile at me, the wind all blowing our hair. They don't seem bothered that I really am being targeted by some guy in my class: you know, the usual.
"Has Lukas been bothersome?" Karma asks me.
"Haven't seen him today; I wouldn't know. I have a favour to ask of you two," Their eyes seem focused on something behind me so I turn, only to find Ella coming over, asking what business I have with these two in which I reply "it's my business".
"Ella I need you to leave," I command, turning to face her angrily. When our eyes lock, I notice the deep sadness in her eyes.
"No! Stop distancing yourself from us!" She yells. Cold air slithers down my shirt, causing me to shiver but no one notices. When was the last time I was truly warm? When I was being held in Mathias' arms that night? At the memory, tears begin to well in my eyes.
"We'll talk later. I have matters to discuss." Luckily, the tears in my sapphire blue eyes go unnoticed so no one brings it up. Finally, after moments of hesitation, she turns and leaves, muttering something under her breath but it was so quiet I couldn't hear. Once she leaves, the other two motion for me to go on.
"Lukas supposedly stole my dad's knife. He's asked me to get it back and I'd rather complete the task unnoticed." Mila and Karma look at each other, then back to me.
"Why would he have your dad's knife?" Mila asks and I shrug, not really knowing myself.
"I'm not sure but if he needs a knife it can't pretty, can it?" There's a long, high-pitched whistle as the wind blows throughout the rooftop.
"She has a point." Mila agrees and Karma nods. "We can help."
It's easy to say I've never actually stolen a knife from someone and I never planned on doing it in the first place but I suppose plans change. I mean, I haven't stolen anything from anyone at all and I dive straight into stealing a harmful object!
"By the way," I start, beginning to fiddle with the sleeves of my sky blue blazer. "What did my mother say to the teacher?" I ask them and they chuckle.
"She told them you were helping her and your father with script work last night and since she's a famous actor, everyone believed it." Mila explains. I nod in agreement and let out a sigh. At least she didn't tell them the truth (I would've never thought I'd say that).
"Alright," Karma starts, finally chipping into the conversation after a while of nodding and silence. "If we're going to take this guy's knife, we might as well do it now and today. In homeroom, it should be no problem." Mila nods, not having an objection with idea but I don't know what to say. I don't know anything about this stuff and these two are secret professionals at it!
"True but we need a distraction." Mila suggests and both of them look at me. I shake my head, stumbling back slightly, violently making an 'x' with my hands also.
"No way! I'm not distracting the enemy," I humph a cross my arms, turning my head away. "Forget it!"
"Well If you don't distract him you'll have to take the knife." Karma states.
"Well so be it! I'll take the knife right from his hands if I have to!" I argue, not actually realising I didn't mean what I said.
"It's too dangerous. You're distracting him and that's final!" Mila demands, not actually giving me a choice in the matter. So, now I have to distract the guy who tried to kill me and now has my father's knife with him?
How hard can it be?
