       ****MAUDES POV***

It was friday, the end of a short week and a speedy adjustment.

I got onto the bus considering calling my dad asking (((begging))) him to pick me up so I wouldnt have to go.

I moaned up the stairs because I recognized the back of my Physics teacher. Immediatly I pictures the unfinished homework asignment sitting in my folder.

I reached for my phone to text my dad when I heard my name. "Maude!" I looked down the stairs to see Daniel jogging up behind me.

"Hey, are you going to Emily's party this weekend?" I had forgotten about it, but I couldnt go anyway, "No, im at my dads this weekend," Daniel had been around since before the divorce. His mom really helped my mom. "Bummer," he shrugged "We should hangout soon then" he said leading off to his first period class.

He hadnt left time for me to respond, but I could never really say no to him.

2nd period rolled along and I braced myself for anything. Practiced imaginary monologue was running through my head. This consisted of me impressing him and him falling in love with me.

hmmmmm reality???

I sat next to Daniel and Mr.Koenig began his lesson.

He was talking about the complex relationships of characters in love. He used Edgar Allan Poe and his young cousin as an example.

"Could that be considered love? They were cousins and the age gap was huge!" a girl named Brittany yelled out.

"Love is blind. . ." he pondered off. . . "Its poetic really" Mr.Koenig retaliated.

"But thats like you going out with one of us" Brittany argued

I saw his fingers clench and his jawline tense up

"Okay what about another famous couple"

silence

"Comeon somebodys got to know one famous literary couple"

I raised my hand remembering one of my favorite poets.

"Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes" I said. He looked at me as though I was an old memorbillia that he wanted to hold.

"Ah yes," He began smiling and looking for an answer in my eyes.

"One of the most passionate couples, they were entirely wrong for each other, yet their love shone through no matter what anyone said" He broke eye contact. He continued smiling throughout the rest of the class.

I moved on to third period confused, wondering if I had been the reason he was smiling all class. I hoped so.
