CHAPTER THREE
"How do you know where you're going?" Adriel asked as she was dragged down a long, stone corridor. Caym had practically picked her up after they were dismissed, rushing her through the crowd toward the "newly-mated" quarters.
"I just have a feeling! It's like I'm being drawn to something." Caym gasped over his shoulder as he continued to pull her around a corner. They ran down another corridor, passing a couple that had just found their room. Adriel strained to recognize them, but their faces were hidden behind each other's hair as they shared an embrace.
"We're close." Caym said, showing his excitement through a wide, cocky grin. Adriel knew that he had a far greater knowledge of what was to come this evening. All male demons were prepared for it. But females? They were left to their mates to be taught the ways of mating.
"Caym, stop for a minute." Adriel said breathlessly, pulling back on his hold in an attempt to slow him down. He quickly responded, slowing down his pace until they were standing by a large statue of an ancient demon lord.
"What is it?" His eyes were worried. He had always been able to read her emotions fairly well. But now that they were bonded, her emotions flooded into him as if they were his own. She was scared. "Why are you afraid, my sweet?" His hand slowly traced the line of her jaw, stopping at her lips. There his thumb gently rubbed across the plump, red bud of her mouth.
"I'm not afraid..." Her voice was hard. She was a demon after all, and demons didn't show fear. "I'm just...Curious. That's all."
Caym's eyes flickered with amusement, all concern being washed away by her words. Adriel was surprised to hear a loud cackle escape his lips and to feel his body tremble from the laughter. "Oh my little hellion, how innocent you truly are. Please, enlighten me on what you think will happen between us tonight."
Adriel thought intensely about it for a few moments. Her dark, elegant brows were furrowed as her mind sought answers. She had spent many a night thinking about what would happen once she was mated. She had imagined kisses and romance, but nothing like she had experienced with Caym earlier. The kiss that sealed their union trumped every other thing that she had ever conjured up in her dreams.
"I suppose there will be kissing?" She finally said, questioning whether or not she was correct.
"Well, of course there will be kissing!" Caym snorted. "But what else do you think goes on between a demon and his mate?" He was obviously finding her innocence amusing. He stared at her beautiful face as she pondered his question. He had been taught these things many years ago. But Adriel? Ah, she would be his to teach, and teach her he would.
"Well, I assume we will share some of our feelings. Maybe get to know each other on an intelluctual level better?" She asked, all but torturing Caym. He wanted so badly just to show her what was going to happen. He wanted to lay her down right then and there, ravage her, and be done with it. He wanted to hear his name purred through her lips just before she screamed Lucifer's name in ecstasy. But he would wait. He would draw it out until she begged him to do things that she had never even heard of! "My darling, I could never know you better or love you more than I already do at this moment." Caym said matter-of-factly and placed a chaste kiss to her cheek. He then proceeded to lead her the rest of the way to their chamber.
A large, dark wooden door creaked open, allowing Adriel to be led into the dark chamber. If it wasn't for Caym's firm grip on her hand, she would have feared losing him within the darkness. It didn't take long for her eyes to adjust. She observed the contents of the square, stone chamber. It was like every other demon chamber she had seen. It had a dark stone floor, molten rock walls, and a prayer alter was arranged in one of the far corners. But there was one thing she couldn't look away from... The bed.
