Chapter Seven

Adriel collapsed on the couch after spending eight hours at Naughty Chix. She had worn herself out by finding odd jobs to keep her busy so that she never set foot in the stage. Destiny had. She no longer looked so innocent to Adriel after watching her dance and gyrate around a long pole.

Since she had woken up this morning, she had learned a few things. One, she was in Tennessee. Two, Lyla was also a part time prostitute along with the stripping. And three, she desperately needed to see Caym. She missed him more than she would miss her right arm if it had been taken.

She laid on the small, musty sofa, cringing at the smell coming from her clothes. She had spent the day inhaling smoke and sweat, waiting on lustful men that smelled even worse. Her heightened senses served to make the day even worse, for she could smell pretty much everything in the sinful building.

She looked over at the clock to see that it was six o'clock. she had four more hours before she could travel back to hell. She thought about watching tv or maybe going out to go eat, but she desperately wanted a shower first.

She searched through the tiny apartment and soon found the minuscule bathroom. The shower was just big enough for her to fit, but it would do. She stripped the tank top and shorts that Destiny had ordered her to wear and jumped in before the water had even warmed up. Goose bumps erupted all over her skin, but she was just glad to be clean.

She quickly washed her hair and face, lathering her body with some sort of scrub she found. She felt like she needed to scrub the smell from her. She could still taste the smoke. She did that for a few minutes until the water finally warmed up.

Adriel stood there like a statue. She let the water cascade over her body as the thought of Oriphiel came to her. She replayed his words over and over, contemplating the meaning of them.

How would you feel if you were God?

They are his children.

How would you feel if an unhuman race led by a fallen angel was slaughtering them?

"It's not right..." She mumbled to herself, blinking away the water droplets that clung to her lashes. She didn't know how long she had been standing there, but her fingers had begun to wrinkle and the hot water had already come and gone.

"What's not right?" A deep, male voice said from the other side of the curtain.

A scream erupted from Adriel's lips. Who the hell is that!?! She ripped the curtain back, her mind far from being afraid. She found herself face to face with a tall, shaggy haired man with a crooked smile. He was cute, but something about him made her like him already. Maybe it was Lyla's memories that made her immediately drawn to him.

"Well, don't you look lovely." His voice was playful and there was a slight twinkle in his light brown eyes.

"Thank you..." She said mindlessly, not even thinking about the words as she said them.

"No ma'am... Thank you." His voice had changed. It was now husky and thick. She watched as his eyes trailed down her body slowly as if he was trying the memorize the sight in front of him.

That was when she remembered that she was naked. "Shit..." She cursed, jerking a towel from the wall-rack and wrapping it around herself.

He tssked, shaking his head. His smile grew even wider. "Oh Lyla... You never cease to make me laugh." He chuckled, leaning back against the door. She then took a second to observe the man that was blocking her only exit.

He was shaggy. That was the best word she could think of to describe him. His hair was sandy blonde and wavy, reaching just above his shoulders. It was tucked behind his ears, revealing an extremely square jaw and high cheek bones that were covered with light brown scruff. He was tall and quite muscled. Not nearly as muscled as Caym or even Oriphiel, but he was still impressively built. Adriel pursed her lips as she tried to decide on her next move.
