Chapter Eight

Adriel gasped, stumbling backward. She was on her way to falling into the shower when she felt the unholy angel's hand catch her.

"Adriel, calm down." He said calmly, but she still fought back. She clawed at his bare chest, flailing within his arms. She struggled against his tight hold until she finally took a deep breath and stopped. There was no use. The Angel of Wrath was much stronger than her, especially in her human form which dulled her powers a bit.

"What are you doing here!?" Was all she could say through her fearful gasps. She stared at his face that had now fully changed back to it's original form. Gone was the blonde shagginess. Oriphiel was now in the stranger's place. Really, Oriphiel was a stranger too, but it didn't feel that way. Adriel felt the same pull towards him as she had been feeling towards Caym her whole life. That's what scared her.

"Uh, I think it's obvious what I'm doing here." He said, glancing down at his bare chest and her nakedness. She desperately wanted to reach for a towel, but his arms were clamped around her like a giant vise. His mouth was turned in a wicked grin, almost smug. At that moment, he lost all of his appeal and repulsed Adriel.

"You're evil." She growled, wriggling around again in attempt to break free.

"Oh, I'm evil? I'm sorry, which one of us serves SATAN?" He laughed coldy, sounding somewhat amused and sickened at the same time.

"Lucifer is a great Lord! You are the one whose being tricked by a god that just wants power!" She said, her voice just shy of yelling.

His face twisted into a scowl. His eyes were set aflame, his skin was searing hot as the rage built within him. "You don't know what you're saying, little demon." His voice was menacingly quiet. "My Lord created your 'lord'. YOUR 'lord' betrayed MY Lord. My Lord loves his children, the ones he created from his own image. Does your lord love you? Could he call you by name?"

Adriel was stunned, her body overtaken by chills. Her mind was wrapping itself around his words, pondering every meaning. "I don't know..." She mumbled, staring off into blank space, not even seeing anything that was in front of her.

"I didn't think so..." He hissed. His laid back, cocky attitude was gone. Now was when his cold hearted wrath was shining through. He was defending his Lord and creator, the one he spent his eternal life fighting for. That's when it was serous to him. That's when he suddenly looked even more lethal.

"I don't blame you for believing in something you've been taught your whole life..." He said after a long pause. "But I do blame you for not believing in the God that does good when you've been given the chance." With that last word, Adriel felt a small breeze graze her skin and the angel vanished.

She was now all alone. An empty feeling swept the pit of her stomach, bile rising up her throat. She was disgusted with herself...

She needed to see Caym.

~********************************~

Caym traveled back to Hell as soon as he could. He was itching to see his beautiful bride, excited to hear how her travel had gone.

His travel had been amazing. His human form was a surfer in California, rich and carefree. Although, Caym suspected the human he had been assigned hadn't done good works with his wealth. That's probably why he now resides in the depths of Hell.

Running through the hallways in search of his love, he ran into Nicor. She and Adriel had always been friendly, so he thought she made have seen her.

"Nic, have you seen Addie?" He asked, slightly winded. He had been running through the halls like a mad man.

She told him that she hadn't and continued on her way. Caym continued his search until he finally found her in the dining hall.
