I just had an interesting convo with my older-by-three-minutes brother. It went like this.
Me: I don't care about snow.
Asher: But, it's so soft and fluffy!
Me: Like a frozen kitten (sarcasm)
Asher: it's softer then concrete.
Me: but less fun
(I walks away)
Anyways, on to the story!

Alex's POV
Winter. My least favorite time of year. I have to wear a ridiculously fluffy coat that prohibits any real boarding action. Winter and snow are Asher's thing. He lives for it.
He also thinks that I have friends. It's not that I want to be fooling him or anything, it just that I don't want him to worry. Knowing that baka, he would probably come up with a stupid plan that would never work. And, as the push-over, I would most likely follow him and end up in trouble. Or jail.
He also thinks I'm into a girl. Katie Lamie to be exact. Katie is the daughter of the skateboard park's owner. It's not like I'm only talking to her because of that, but I admit it was the reason I wanted to meet her. Expecting a rich brat, I was surprised when she turned out to be a cool, easy going skater. Girl had skills. But, of course, not as skillful as mine.
Well, school started and I still can't find any challenging pipes that aren't covered in snow. The plain black skate board that I brought with me from Britain was securely latched to my heavy duty army backpack as I walked through the school. Shimmer high had a strict 'No Skating in the Hallways' rule.
Load of BS. I'm skate when and where I want to.
I exited the school, pulling my board from my back. I set it on the ground and put my feet on the board. With a kick of my foot, I was off, rushing down the street. I dodged a few straying high schoolers and jumped a bench. Nothing spectacular, just the basics.
I zig-zagged down the sidewalk, the wind burning my face. Lost in thought, I didn't notice anything around me. That is, until I hit the cat. The horrid orange stripped thing jumped right in front of me. Honestly, I didn't really try my hardest to avoid it, but hell, I tried. Still hit it though...
"Small! Mable's cat!" Mable yelled, shaking her fist in the air.
"Sorry," I muttered, getting off my board and putting my foot on the end of my board, stepping down, and catching the tip in my hand.
I picked up the cat and handed it to Mable. If I'm being truthful, I actually kind of liked the old hag, but the cats, and other questionable feline species, had to go.
I smiled sheepishly at Mable and headed into the mansion. That was the night she put up 'S' and 'T'.

Some days later, I woke with a grunt. Hitting my alarm clock several times to get it to shut up, I rolled out of bed. Seriously, every morning, I fall out of bed onto the cold floor of my uncarpeted bedroom.
I think that Mable thinks getting me a small, single sized bed was funny. I mean, she fricken got Asher a King sized bed! He doesn't fall out of bed all of the time...
Now that I had my mini tantrum on the ground, I get up and walk to Mable's cat infested kitchen. The smell of bacon hit my nose and I perked up, I could also detect pancakes. Then, I realized I wasn't wearing a shirt. Oops. I blushed and went back to my room to put one on.
I came back and grabbed my standard three pancakes, bacon and cup of OJ.
"Thank you," I thanked Mable as I sat down with my plate full.
She just nodded. She's been giving me the silent treatment since the 'cat and board' incident.
It was an accident!
Maybe...
_______________
At school, I was given an English test. I hate English. I physically can't tell the difference between a verb and a noun. Sad, right?
When I got the test back, my jaw dropped. I actually got a C+! I did a little mental happy dance. During my dance of happiness, I was completely oblivious to the turmoil coming from my bro. If I had been paying attention, I would have stopped him from drinking in the school and getting suspended.
"Mr. Strolson?" the English teacher asked.
"Eh?" I looked up.
"Is your brother always like this?"
"Like what?" I was very confused.
"Like a complete asshole!" yelled some kid behind me.
What did I miss?

"Asher!" I yelled, cupping my hand around my mouth. Not sure if it really amplified my voice, but whatever.
After getting home from school and not seeing Asher anywhere, I started to get worried. When five hours passed, I went to go and look for him.
"Asher!" I wandered up and down his favorite snowboarding pass.
Suddenly, out of nowhere comes a broader. I don't have time to dodge out of the way and cry out in pain as we made contact. I heard something snap and there was a sharp, crisp pain in my shin.
I fell backwards into the snow. To my chagrin, big, fat tears started streaming down my face. The last thing I heard was my brother calling my name Then, There was inky darkness.
"Alex!"
