Kasper P.O.V.

I woke up yelling, sweat placed thinly about my face.  “Ah, a nightmare…” I say quietly to myself, getting out of bed to get ready for the day ahead.  It was 7:18 and I had no work today, but I knew that if I got back in bed now, I wouldn’t be back up until around noon, and no one wants that.

I was soon done freshening up for the day and changing into a comfy sweater and dark wash jeans.  As I walked down the stairs to my kitchen, I felt like I was forgetting something.

As I bustled around the kitchen gathering all the things I needed to make Toad in a Hole (My favorite breakfast food), I heard a voice that made me jump probably 5 feet in the air.

                “G-Good Morning… Sleep well?”

I think I died a little inside when I heard that voice.  Not only did he give me a heart attack by speaking so suddenly, but his voice sounded very hoarse and fragile.  I turned around to face the living room.  He was leaning out of the chair some to look over at me with his blank face.  It looked kind of eerie from my perspective.

“My goodness, you scared me!  I forgot you were there!  And to answer your question, I did sleep well!”

He stared at me a little longer before saying, “Liar… Y-You were… yelling…” I looked back at him before continuing to make myself breakfast.  “Just a little nightmare; I don’t really remember any of it.”  He sighed and said “It’s my fault, I apologize… No h-human has ever really s-slept in my presence…

After a long pause and I was done making my breakfast, I break the silence by saying, “Do-Do you eat anything?”

No, I don’t n-need anything t-thank you…

I nod to myself and head over to the living room with my food.  I sit on the couch and start to eat slowly, taking small glances at Der Ritter between bites.  He soon asks “How o-old are you; what is your name?

“About twenty years, sir and my name is Kasper.”  I say back, seeing if he would reply.  I hear him mumble something under his breath and go quiet again.  I start to feel uncomfortable with the constant silences that keep happening, so I just said whatever I could think of.

“How old are you, might I ask?”

I swore I heard him chuckle.  “Me?” He said with a light voice.  “Why, n-no one has asked me that before in a v-very long time.”  I then started to feel embarrassed to have asked that.  I mean, of all the things I could have asked I just had to ask that question!

Well,” He said, starting his answer.  “I-I don’t keep track of time like you h-humans, you see.  Weeks, days, y-years; they all blend t-together in the end, for me that i-is.  All I can s-say is that I have lived a v-very long life; L-Longer than any humans short l-lifespan.

I sigh in acknowledgement, taking in what he said.  Curious and Curious-er.

Slenderman P.O.V.

I sit peacefully, watching him eat a strange little meal of bread and egg.  He’s quite a curious little human.  He is quiet, but when he isn’t his chatter can be a bit strange; his age question is an example of this.
