Emerald P.O.V.

“Slendy, is something wrong?” I ask with worry.  His whole aura was making me nervous.  As he walks quickly over to me he says, “Sit down.  I need to inform you of something very important, so you need to listen well.”  I nod in slight confusion and walk over to a small, leather chair near the middle of the room.  Slendy remains standing, pacing back and forth across the living room, as I get comfortable in my chair.

“So,” I say nervously.  “What did you want to tell me?” He stops pacing and stares at me intently.  He stares at me until it starts to get a little uncomfortable.  As he was staring, I noticed he had somehow calmed down a bit.

“Yes…” He says, breaking his stare from me and continuing his pacing.  “What I have to say involves the five years I’ve been gone.” So, he’s finally going to tell me something?!  I started to get a tad bit excited at this news, but I still remembered his mood at the beginning of the conversation, so I did my best to keep up a calm façade.  “I guess I should start my story the night I left.”

He told me all the details and happenings that occurred during his time away.  It was a pretty interesting and he kept me focused on what he was saying all the way through.  As he was talking about when he fell on a path in Germany out of exhaustion and pain, he stopped and looked down at the floor.  I frown and ask, “What’s wrong?” His face wrinkled up and he sighed.  “Anyway, my kind has rules.  These rules are put down by a strict leader.  The leader is usually the wisest and smartest of our kind.  The leader will make rules that they believe will keep our kind out of human suspicion and keep us safe.  Some of the rules they will put down are ridiculous and others make sense.  My kind has had only three leaders since our kind came into creation, since we don’t die easily.”  Where the heck is he going with all this?  I’ll also have to ask what happened after he collapsed on the path.  It was like he’s trying to hide it from me.

“You see Emerald, if you break one of their rules the punishment could range from only 100 years of banishment to death.” I think I might have been making him feel a bit uncomfortable with my intense staring.  I already had a pretty good idea that he broke a rule, but what?

“I broke a rule, as you might have guessed and it wasn’t a very good rule to break.  The silly thing is that I broke the rule out of loneliness, which is an emotion I never thought I would feel.”  After he says this, he looks up and stares me in the eyes.  Oh, you have got to be kidding me!  “You befriended me.  That’s the reason, isn’t it?”  He looked down and didn’t speak.  It was quiet for a while before I broke the silence.  “How bad is the punishment…?”  I ask quietly, hoping for the best.

“Death.”  He says bluntly and quickly.

I stand up suddenly and walk quickly over to him.  At this point, he stopped his pacing and sat down on the couch, avoiding my eyes which were currently drilling holes into the top of his paper, white head.  Once I reach him, I look down at him and grab him by the chin, so that he was looking at me.

“Then you should have killed me the moment you met me, right?”

It came out colder and harsher than I was going for, but I guess you can’t exactly sugar coat these kinds of things very well.

He stared at me, shock visible on his blank face.  “Emerald…” His voice was quiet and low.  “You should have just killed me and done whatever you wanted with my corpse!  You could have used my innards to decorate the trees for all I care, but you didn’t!  Now, you have a death sentence on your head and it’s my fault!  If I just had gotten scared and ran, none of this would have happened, or better yet, I just wasn’t in the meadow at all!” Tears were threatening to fall from my eyes.  “Will they have to kill me too?” I ask quietly, trying to keep the tears from falling.  He was quiet for a long time, before saying, “Yes.” It was barely noticeable, but I could still tell that his voice was shaking.

I couldn’t hold it anymore.  Me dying is too is just the cherry on top, isn’t it?  Not that I really cared if I died.  Slendy is one of the main reasons that I keep going in my life and now he has to die, because of me.  I don’t think I would have been able to survive, even if they did spare me.

I threw myself onto him and cried, hard.  I was hugging him so tight that I was probably hurting him, even if it was just a little.  I was making little wet spots on his clothes, but I was too shaken up to speak properly and apologize.  At one point he started to hug me back and tightly.  I could feel him snuggle his face into the corner where my shoulder and neck collide and started to breathe slowly.  Soon after, he took one of his hands and started rubbing my back, gently, while the other held me.  I wished that moment not to end.  We stayed in that position for a long time, before I calmed down and quickly fell asleep in his arms.

~7 hours later~

I woke up in the dark, surrounded by the softness of my bed.  I sat up and rubbed my eyes of any eye goo that had built up.  I sleepily look over to my alarm clock which says ’11:58pm’ in bright, neon blue light.  I grunt, turn on my side lamp, and look around.  As I get up out of bed, I notice a note on the nightstand.

I HAVE SOMETHING I NEED TO DO, BUT I WILL BE BACK.

                -SLENDERMAN

I set the note down and stretched out my arms and legs.  I felt a little uneasy without Slendy around, but I’m sure he’ll be back soon.  After I stretched a bit, I went down stairs to wait for Slendy’s return.  I felt a bit too anxious to fall back asleep, so I decided to watch TV and get something to munch on.  Once I got down stairs, I got a bad feeling and goose bumps.  As I walk to the light switch, quietly, I notice something in my pantry.  It looked like someone in a white hoodie and black pants.  As I got closer, I noticed something splattered on the hoodie, instantly chilling my blood; It was red-ish black in the dark.

As I slowly and quietly got closer, I pick up a pan off of the stove and raise it above my head.  Once I got closer, without him noticing, I built up a good amount of force and swung it down, hitting him square in the head!

Hey, that was a quick update! I'm actually pretty proud of myself for finishing this chapter in a day. I guess I was on a role or something! Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter and sorry for the cliffhanger thing I did. Hopefully the next chapter will get out quicker too, because I'm kind of looking forward to it!
