Chapter 1

Things were peaceful in the Fairy Tail guild hall. As peaceful as it got at Fairy Tail, that is.

As usual, Natsu was being his obnoxious self, picking fights and causing trouble. As a result of one of his and Gray's common fights, the whole guild had broken out in a brawl.

Amidst the chaos, Lucy, who'd only been in Fairy Tail for a few months, could be seen scolding her two male teammates while Erza sat watching in boredom from a nearby table. For whatever reason, she wasn't in the mood for fighting today.

Gray had just put Natsu through a table when Master Makarov finally stopped the bar fight.

"QUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs without leaving his usual seat on the bar.

Everyone stood still and silent as the guild members stared at the old man.

The guildmaster took a deep breath and spoke softly. "I can sense him. He's coming."

A sense of anticipation filled the guild as everyone moved quietly back to their seats at the tables. As team Natsu gathered at their own table, Lucy inquired on the sudden mood change among the guild members. She'd heard the guild master react like that before. "Is it Mystogan again?" she asked, remembering the last time he'd shown up using his sleep spell to knock everyone out.

"No," Gray replied with a wary look on his face. "If it was Mystogan, we'd all be asleep already. This is much worse."

Natsu suddenly hit the wood tabletop with his clenched fist. His teeth were clenched in intense aggravation. "It's that poser (F/n)," he spat out.

Erza was instantly on her feet in defense. "Don't you dare speak of (F/n) that way!" she yelled. Her sudden anger at Natsu's comment was clear.

"Why shouldn't I?! It's the truth!" Natsu retorted as he stood in opposition.

"It isn't the least bit true! (F/n) is no poser!" Erza and him were pushing their heads against each other now, both of them furious. "Your only jealous because he's so much stronger than you!"

Lucy was surprised that Erza would take such strong offense to Natsu's comments on the person in question. She got Gray's attention and spoke to him curiously as the other two continued to bicker.

"So who is this (F/n) guy anyway?" she asked. "Is he a member of the guild?"

Gray crossed his arms as he spoke with a grim expression. "Yes he is. He's one of Fairy Tail's S-class wizards and a contender for the title as strongest in the guild."

Lucy eyes got wide in awe. "You mean he's as powerful as Mystogan and Laxus?!"

He nodded. "Depending on who you ask, he might even be stronger."

"Really?" she wondered.
