Moriah Shia was finally home after a long, hot, wonderous vacation. Her lips spread across her face, reveling her signature smile. Grabbing her bags, she went up the front steps. Something seemed different, the atmosphere was more uncomfortable. The smell of rotting leaves and old, rotting grass clippings filled her nose; in the distance, the sound of a crow could be heard. Moriah turned around and stated in a unsure voice, "Something's wrong here."
She looked at her parents only to find them giving her a blank expression. No emotion, nothing. No response. Just a silence that worried her. Moriah glanced around, looking in the shadows. Something was going on, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Looking to her side, she saw her sixteen year old brother, Johnson, staring at her. He had the same blank expression as her parents. "Did anything happen when I was gone with Zach?"
Her mother blanched, "Whose that? Where are we..?" She let the word drift off into nothingness.
"Mom," She stated slowly, "We are at our house. In Transyltan. Zach's my boyfriend." She paused, "He has been for three years. You've met him before!"
Moriah's mother just opened her mouth, then quickly closed it. She finally looked at the ground, "Oh. I guess we should, umm, go inside now." Quietly, her mother whispered something to her husband. "She's catching on, Honey. I think we should tell her now."
Her husband nodded and replied in a hushed voice, "Once we are inside, my love, once we are inside."
